This Sunday: May 31st
This Sunday, we’re turning up the light and the love!
Kids will explore some of the joyful traditions that make Unitarian Universalism special including lighting the chalice, our very own flaming symbol of hope, courage, and community.
We will be making chalices that the kids can take home.
Families can expect laughter, creativity, meaningful conversation, and glowing inspiration as we celebrate the big idea at the heart of being a UU: Our Faith is Love in Action!
When we act with love, everybody shines brighter!
Letter from the Director
Dear UU Family,
I miss you all and am really looking forward to reconnecting tomorrow! I've been away celebrating my niece's graduation from Hollins and then attending the Homecoming gathering at The Mountain. Both experiences were wonderful, but there's no place like home, and I'm excited to see you and the kids again.
This newsletter is a little longer than usual because summer is bursting with uniquely UU opportunities. From Pride Fest and Chalice Camps to Family Camp at The Mountain, June and July are packed with fun, fellowship, learning, and adventure! Our UU community in these Blue Ridge Mountains is alive and thriving! I love it!
Speaking of celebrations, next Sunday, June 7, we'll kick things off at UUFH with a Volunteer Breakfast and John's Going Away Party!
Please join us from 9:00–10:00 AM before the service as we celebrate the volunteers who make Family Ministry and congregational life possible. We L💜VE our volunteers, and we can't wait to thank you for all you do.
We'll also be sending off John as he heads to Greensboro to attend UNC. John has been a member of the UUFH staff for three years, and I've known him since he was a little boy. So yes, there will almost certainly be tears in my coffee....It's unavoidable!
Watching John grow into the kind, thoughtful, dependable young man he is today has been a joy. While we're incredibly proud of him and excited for this next chapter, he will be deeply missed here at UUFH! Please join us next Sunday, June 7th, to be recognized for your volunteer service, share a meal, and help send John off with our love and best wishes.
As always, please remember that you are the reason UUFH is such a wonderful place to be on Sunday mornings. Thank you for sharing your time, your talents, and your hearts. At UUFH, you are loved, and your children are cherished.
With lots of love and gratitude,
Sunday Shae

This camp offers a gentler and more engaging way to learn how to change a car tire, write a resume, and keep a budget. Scholarships are available. UUFH intern, Logan, is a former scholarship recipient and is happy to tell you about the camp. See Logan on Sunday for more details. 🙂
