News from BearNation: March 12
A Note from Dr. Neubeck
Where does the time go? It is hard to believe that we are in the middle of March and one week away from Spring Break. Unfortunately, our "spring" break doesn't feel like spring with all of the snow on the ground. I hope that you and your kids will be able to spend some quality time together and the students are able to recharge before the last quarter of school.
I had the opportunity to read to the kindergarten students last week. Opportunities like this remind me of how curious and energetic kids are around learning. I really enjoyed asking them questions throughout the book and listening to some of their answers, some of which are very creative 5-year old answers. Then, during that same week, I had the chance to speak to some seniors who were presenting their Profile of a Graduate Life Plans. These plans are a culminating reflection of their high school years and beyond in the Byron School District. When asked questions, they too had some fun and creative answers. As the Superintendent of Byron Public Schools, I was able to witness within days of each other, what students are like when they enter our system and what they are like when they leave. I am proud of our students, staff, families, and community for giving students the opportunities to excel and succeed, and I just hope these and future students remember that "Once a Bear, Always a Bear". We are here for them. Parents, I encourage you to give your kids a hug over spring break, no matter what their age, and let them know you recognize their work and they are supported. Have a great break!
