Good evening, Chapelfield families.

We had a great week back from Spring Break. Students reviewed our PBIS expectations in the classroom and shared about their break with our teachers. Check out the picture above. It is a picture of Mrs. Pijor's kindergarten class. They were busy writing Spring Break stories. I am so proud of their Hard Work.

Thank you for supporting us at our first Culture & Community night on a rainy day! We are spotlighted in the video below on GJPS' website. It took a team to celebrate Chapelfield's diversity. I would like to thank Mellody Melville, our English Language teacher. She had a committee to support the hard work that includes, Mrs. Powell, Mr. Scheibeck, Mrs. Long, and Miss Scheiner. We are grateful for the many parents and teachers that shared wonderful food with us and the teachers that volunteered to make it a special night. In addition, our 3rd graders learned about economics through their Town! Finally, Mrs. Karr's displayed students' art work in our hallways. We have so much to celebrate!

Next week, 3rd and 5th grade have Math Ohio State Testing (look at the schedule below). Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast.

Sincerely,

Nikki Miller

What students are learning in P.E.

Hello CES families!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Just before spring break, our 2nd - 5th grade students had a fun week with “Cup Stacking”! They learned their first competitive stack called the 3-3-3. To get used to stacking our cups, we started off with a “Cups and Cardio” activity. This activity is designed to help get students used to stacking their cups in a fun way, all while getting some cardio in as well. We had a really fun week and had a lot of laughs along the way!

Our K-1st grade students were focusing on balancing, throwing, catching and sliding a bean bag. I was very impressed as it takes a lot of control and coordination to walk across a balance beam with a bean bag on your head or shoulder!

Field Day

Field Day 2024 is also approaching and will take place on May 22nd. In the past, we have held 2 sessions, and we are going to continue this trend. Each session will be 2 hours each. 3rd-5th will go in the morning from 9AM-11AM. K-2 will be in the afternoon from 12:15-2:15. We will have 10 different stations, and are hoping to get at least 2 volunteers per station to run them.

Morning volunteers – I am going to ask that you arrive at 8:30AM and stay till 11:15 AM.

Afternoon volunteers – I am going to ask that you arrive at 11:45 and stay till 2:30PM.

Here is the sign-up link, and I will also be sending this out using talking points.
