Happy Monday!

We are looking forward to seeing families in the building for conferences this week. If you haven’t signed up yet, please make sure you do. Conferences are a great way to get more connected with your child’s teacher and continue to grow the partnership between families and school.

During conferences you can stop by the library to visit the book fair, check out opportunities for parents & students in the lobby, and check the lost and found for items your student may have lost. Lost and found will be donated after conferences. As a reminder due to conferences we will have half days on Wednesday, November 12th and Thursday, November 13th.

This month during Respect Circle and PRIDE Packs we will be talking about how using respectful language builds belonging. On Friday in PRIDE Packs, students added kind notes to blankets being donated through Project Hope. Our PRIDE leadership students will be delivering these notes and blankets to shelters and those in need.

At Respect Circle this week we will be talking about how the language we use can create othering or belonging. Students will hear about the strategy Pause and Rephrase to help them shift language that could be hurtful to more respectful language.

It’s almost time for our Literati Book Fair! We will be open November 12th and 13th for adults to visit and shop our book fair in-person from 12:00-7:00 PM.

Online registration for the Pembroke Ski Club is now live through Pine Knob! Our club will run on Tuesdays right after school in January and February. Please contact Christina Johnson at cvalentinejohnson@gmail.com with any questions.

With the rising cost of bagels, we will be increasing the price per bagel to $2 per bagel. (Plain or Salt available) - each child is allowed one bagel. Bagels will be sold in the main lobby and at the Witherbee loop entrance. Thanks to all our 4th grade parent volunteers!

Please contact the Pembroke Attendance Line if your child will be late or absent. You can leave a message at 248-203-3888 Option 2. Or email Tracy Longe at tlonge@birmingham.k12.mi.us.

If your child will be absent for 4 days or more - please complete an extended absence form and submit to the Pembroke Main Office or email to Tracy Longe.

Friendly reminder on the Pembroke Sickness Policy:

• 24 hours Fever & Vomit Free with no medications!
• If your child has cold symptoms and requires cough drops, please send cough drops to the office with a note giving permission to provide them to the student.
• Absences with a doctor/dentist note are excused

Please note that we do go outside in temperatures of -10 degrees F (windchill or air temperature). Please be sure to send your child to school with weather appropriate clothing! Hats, gloves, snow pants and snow boots will be needed as the snow begins to fall!

👚🧤🧣As temperatures turn colder, our students bring more layers of clothing. Lots of the clothing ends up in our lost & found and never finds a home. To help us return items, please label the items with your student's last name on the tags. We will have tables set up for our lost and found during conferences. Please be sure to give it a quick look when you come in!

Conferences are coming up, and we’d love your help keeping our teachers fueled and ready! PTA is providing dinner, but we are looking for donations of dessert, drinks, and other supplies — plus volunteers to help with setup and cleanup.
