Mechanics Grove School
Weekly Wolf Update
November 3, 2025
Halloween at MG
Halloween will be celebrated at MG on Friday, October 31st. If a student wishes to dress up in a costume they must BRING the costume to school. Students are not allowed to wear the costume to school in the morning. All students must be able to put on a take off their costume independently.
Masks are allowed. Anything weapon-like is not allowed.
There are not classroom parties on this day. If parents would like to view the parade, it will begin at 2:00pm and run along the front bus lane as well as across the blacktop by the playground. There is no need to enter the building. We will come outside for the parade and pass by everyone.
Please Note: If your family does not celebrate Halloween, please email your child's teacher to inform him/her. Your child will be supervised by a staff member duirng the parade and will then join the class immediately following the parade back in their classroom.

A Note from our EL Teacher
One thing we work on with EL students at school is writing. Considering appropriate grammar helps students to create coherent writing. The first step in doing this is increasing vocabulary. The more students speak, in both English and their native language, the better their vocabulary becomes. One way to work on this at home is to play games with your child. One easy game is listing as many ways to say something as possible. For example,
This could be called a:
Boat
Sailboat
Raft
Ship
Craft
catamaran
Hello
Hi
Hiya
What’s up
Greetings
Howdy
welcome
Friend
Buddy
Pal
Playmate
classmate
You can do this in both languages so that students have as many words as possible in their vocabulary bank.
A Note from our Project Challenge Teacher
What’s happening in Project Challenge?
Students in project challenge have been working together to solve engaging mathematical tasks and demonstrating courage when sharing their thinking. They’ve been working hard to accept all solutions and learning that there’s more than one way to solve problems. Fourth and fifth grade students have access to my project challenge google classroom. Posted in google classroom are links to websites and tasks students can do at home. There will be new tasks posted each month. Third graders will have a PC folder that will have challenging tasks to work on in the classroom. A great website for families to check out is julia robinson mathematics festival. Puzzles are available digitally and in Spanish. Here’s a link to two math games that can be played at home. The links below offer math support for families. I use this website often. Thank you for supporting your child at home!
