Principal's Message - Mr. DePaula
Dear Nederland Community,
As a CHSAA member school, we conduct weekly grade checks each Friday to determine student eligibility for the following week’s games. I continue to be impressed by the strong academic performance our students demonstrate. Being involved in athletics and extracurricular activities teaches students the importance of balancing multiple commitments and adds tremendous value to their overall education.
For this reason, I encourage every student at Nederland to participate in at least one extracurricular activity (if not more). These experiences help build character, teamwork, and time-management skills that serve students well beyond the classroom.
Speaking of involvement, Homecoming festivities begin in just two short weeks. I invite everyone — parents, staff, middle and elementary school students, and members of our greater community — to come out and take part. The events listed below are open to all, and admission to our games is FREE:

Reminder - if you have not yet paid for your AP exams you need to do so by 10/26/25. If you do not pay by this date, your test will not be ordered. You can pay through RevTrak.
Middle School Parents
You should be receiving a weekly email from your student(s) on Fridays that contains their grades that week, an overview of their goals, and how they are working to improve. This is an amazing method of communication that teachers have put in place! If you are not receiving an email from your student, please have a conversation with them at home letting them know you are looking for their emails each week. If you reach out to me, I will happily check in with them to make sure they get this done!
Mental Health
Webinar: Rise Against Suicide Monday 9/29/25 6:30pm - Silence around suicide puts our youth at risk. This webinar will empower families and trusted adults to recognize warning signs, start tough conversations, and connect youth to live-saving care. Together we can end the stigma, strengthen our families, and prevent tragedy.

Dear Parents & Guardians,
This is a friendly reminder to check your Student’s FEE Balance in Infinite Campus.

Please email Lulu Arauz at lulu.arauzcastex@bvsd.org.
If you're exploring other options, like Free & Reduce (which also covers academic fees and Chromebooks), reach out to Lola Campos at dolores.campos-herzf@bvsd.org or 720-561-5942.
We also have school-specific scholarships and financial aid available. Principal Melamed is happy to help, just send him a quick note at caleb.melamed@bvsd.org.
