Principal's Message
We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and restful Spring Break. As we return to school this week, we find ourselves in a full and exciting stretch of the school year. We are engaged in state testing and end-of-year assessments, teaching our final units of instruction, participating in learning walks and data analysis, and preparing for concerts, field trips, and celebrations. At the same time, we’re actively planning class schedules and transitions for the upcoming school year. We also recognize that this is a busy time at home—from sports and extracurricular commitments to family events and summer planning—there is a lot happening for everyone!
With the arrival of warmer weather, we know students may already have their eyes (and minds!) on summer. While this is a natural time for excitement and anticipation, we ask for your continued partnership in helping our students stay engaged. Please join us in reminding students of the importance of living our core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Rise Above. These are especially important as we move through the final weeks of school together.
This newsletter contains important reminders about upcoming end-of-year events and activities. Please take a moment to review the information, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or the main office with any questions.

GRADE 8 STEP UP DAY - MONDAY, JUNE 9th
GRADE 8 STEP UP DAY - MONDAY, JUNE 9th
Grade 8 students are participating in Grade 8 Step Up Day on Monday, June 9th. Transportation from Medway Middle School to Medway High School will be provided. This day is designed to introduce students to Medway High School and instill confidence prior to 9th Grade Orientation and their first official day as Medway High School students. This program is run by the Medway High School Peer Counseling Program. An information session will inform students about high school resources available to them and provide portraits of multiple student experiences. Permission slips will be sent home via backpack mail as we get closer to the event.
GRADE 8 PROMOTION CEREMONY - Monday, June 16, 2025
On Monday, June 16th, 8th-grade students and their guests are invited to attend Medway Middle School’s 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm. 8th-grade students should plan to arrive at the Middle School by 6:00 pm.
As we continue to receive positive feedback after our outdoor ceremonies, we are planning for an outdoor Promotion Ceremony. We will be monitoring the local weather carefully in the 48 hours leading up to the ceremony. Given the amount of setup that is involved in preparing for the ceremony, we will determine the location of the event 24 hours prior to the ceremony. If there is a chance of rain in the forecast, the ceremony will be moved indoors.
Additional information about the ceremony will be shared with families as we get closer to the date.
GRADE 8 SOCIAL - IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE PROMOTION CEREMONY ON JUNE 16th
The dance/social is not a formal or semi-formal event and dresses are not required. We tell students that they should dress up a little but there is no need to buy something special. Typically, students wear khakis and a button-down shirt or knee-length dresses (and in recent years sneakers). Heels are not recommended since the promotion ceremony will most likely be on grass and the social follows the ceremony.. While at the social, students are expected to remain in the cafeteria at all times unless escorted by a teacher. Families should plan to pick up their 8th graders at 9:00. Details about pickup will be shared closer to the event, however, carpooling is encouraged to minimize traffic.
