Boulevard Weekly Newsletter
1 Person 1% Better Everday!
Principal's Corner
Greetings Boulevard Families,
It has been an amazing first three days of school! Our students are settling into their classroom routines, making new friends, and building strong classroom communities. We are so proud of the positive start our students have made.
Next week, all of our kindergarten students will have their first full week of school, and we are so excited to welcome them each day as they continue getting comfortable with their teachers, classmates, and school routines.
Beginning-of-Year Benchmark Testing
As we begin the school year, all students will participate in Benchmark Assessments in the next few weeks. These assessments help our teachers understand what each student knows and is ready to learn so we can provide instruction and support that meets their individual needs.
Acadience Reading is used to assess foundational reading skills, such as phonemic awareness, phonics, word reading, and reading fluency. The results help teachers identify students who are meeting grade-level expectations and students who may benefit from additional targeted reading support.
MAP Reading and MAP Math are computer-adaptive assessments that measure students' current skills and academic growth in reading and mathematics. The assessment adjusts to each student's responses to provide a more accurate picture of their instructional level. Teachers use MAP results to help plan instruction, identify areas of strength, and determine skills that may need additional practice or support.
Please remember that these assessments are not grades. They are tools that help us better understand our students as learners and ensure that we are providing the right instruction and support throughout the school year.
Thank you for partnering with us as we begin another exciting school year at Boulevard Elementary. We are off to a wonderful start, and we look forward to continuing to grow, learn, and build community together!
Warmly,
Joi Mahoney-Curry

Joi Mahoney-Curry
