Hawk News 3/28/2025
Hendrickson High School
Message from Principal Grebb:
From the stage to the weight room, from the pitch to the podium—Hawks soared far and wide over Spring Break and beyond!
Ryan Doggett once again claimed the title of State Champion in Powerlifting. The One Act Play team delivered a stunning performance of Big Love, securing the 23-5A District Championship. Both our Girls' and Boys' Soccer teams take the field tonight in the Regional Semi-Finals, fighting for a spot in the Regional Finals.
Making history, The Hawk Newspaper earned its first-ever Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association—an honor shared by only six newspapers nationwide. Meanwhile, the Hawk Color Guard is gearing up for the State Championship on Saturday before heading to Ohio for the World Championship next week.
Much like yesterday’s downpour, when it rains, it pours...Hawk Yeah!

Tardies
Besides teaching academic content at Hendrickson, we pride our work on teaching life skills that students can take with them into the real world. One of those skills is being early or on time. We have reset tardies for the new year, but have noticed that more students than normal are showing up late for class, especially for the start of the day. We will be closely monitoring the list of students who show up late and assign the appropriate consequence. Please help us remind students that being early or on time is a huge life skill.
See Something, Say Something
The Anonymous Alerts is an anti-bullying and safety app reporting system that helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressure are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome. Students or parents can submit reports such as bullying, cyber bullying, depression, dating violence, drug or alcohol use, threats against the school, weapons on campus, and more.
The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between the submitters (students, parents, or community members) and District administration and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or reveal their identity when submitting a report.

In this info session, we’ll talk about:
- How this opportunity will benefit your student
- What we’ll see and do on our trip
- Everything that’s included in this experience
- How your child can earn academic credit
- How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
- How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period
There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
Thanks,
Carmen Tydings

We are changing photo companies for senior portraits and underclassmen pictures next year to Photo Texas. This change will include on campus senior portraits during the school day next fall. If you want to schedule an appointment at the studio, you can. Information will be coming soon about that. Our former company, Cady, has been sending out info about scheduling senior portraits. You do not need to schedule with them unless you want to use them for personal portraits. Sorry for any confusion on that.
