Headteacher's Message
Dear Families
What a fantastic evening we had on Wednesday for our Open Evening! It was a real pleasure to welcome over 2,000 visitors through our doors and to showcase all that makes Teddington School such a special place.
Our students were exceptional throughout the evening, proudly representing our school and helping to create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A huge thank you to our staff, students and families who helped make the evening such a success.
Most importantly, it was lovely to welcome so many prospective families into our Teddington community. We hope you enjoyed your evening with us and gained an insight into all that our school has to offer.
The excitement continues next week as we welcome families for our Open Mornings. We are expecting to tour more than 1,000 visitors across the week, and we look forward to giving even more prospective families the opportunity to experience Teddington School. If you haven't yet signed up for a tour of the school in action and would like to, please do so on our website.
This week, our Year 7 students enjoyed an exciting and inspiring visit to Sky Studios Elstree, giving them a fascinating behind the scenes insight into the world of film and television production. Our students represented Teddington perfectly throughout the day, well done to them all. I hope they came back inspired by everything they saw and experienced.
Today, students from Years 8 and 9 have headed to Brussels for a one-night residential focusing on Music. We hope they are having a fantastic time and making the most of this exciting opportunity. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences when they return on Monday.
Finally, I would like to highlight the importance of excellent attendance. It is fantastic to see our Year 7 and Year 8 students currently above our school target and well above the national average, with attendance at 98% and 95% respectively. Year 9 and Year 10 are both around the national average at 94%.
Our Year 11 attendance is currently at 93%, below the national average, and with mock examinations beginning in the final week before half term, every day in school really does matter. Regular attendance is vital to ensure students do not miss important teaching, revision and preparation. So, Year 11, lets get into school every day and make every day count!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards
Paul Grills

Year 7 Visit to Sky Studios Elstree ๐ฝ๐ฌ
Yesterday, our Year 7 students were incredibly fortunate to visit Sky Studios Elstree for an exciting and inspiring behind-the-scenes experience in the world of film and television production.
Throughout the day, students learned about the many different roles involved in creating a film, from creative and technical positions to production management. They then had the opportunity to put these skills into practice by taking on a variety of roles and working together to produce their own movie scenes.
Students also participated in a careers challenge, exploring the skills, qualities and pathways needed for a range of careers at Sky. From runners to production managers, they gained valuable insight into the breadth of opportunities available within the media industry.
A highlight of the trip was a tour of the studios, where students learned about the productions filmed there and watched trailers showcasing some of the projects created on site. The day concluded with an engaging Q&A session with a member of Sky's Innovations Team, who shared insights into their role and answered students' questions about careers, technology and the future of the industry.
It was an amazing trip that gave our students a real taste of the creativity, teamwork and innovation that goes into film and television production.
A huge thank you to Sky for hosting us and providing such a memorable and inspiring experience for our Year 7 students.
Congratulations to our students of the week ๐

Teddington Soul Band to Perform at The Exchange Theatre
We are delighted to share that the Teddington Soul Band will be starting the new school year with a special performance at The Exchange Theatre in Twickenham on Friday 16 October. Doors open at 7pm.
The Exchange is launching a new youth music event, giving young people the opportunity to perform on a professional stage alongside other young bands and performers. This will be the first event of its kind, and we would love to see as many of our families as possible there to support our students.
All proceeds from the event will go towards funding future Exchange Sessions, helping to provide more opportunities for young people to get involved in music and live performance.
