Kindergarten and First Grade News

Our week of kindergarten and first grade has been exciting! The boys and girls are continuing to work really hard on their math and literacy centers. They earned a Grinch Day on Friday. Students had fun reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss and comparing it to the cartoon How the Grinch Stole Christmas. They also did a directed drawing of the Grinch, and then students wrote about how they could be kind to the Grinch. This week, we also had our library media residency along with P.E. Students worked hard on comparing different gingerbread man stories.

Ms. Sanchez's Second Grade Studies Supply and Demand

During LMR this week, we did different activities around supply and demand/gingerbread to get us ready for Gingerbread Day! We started our day with selfies, our elf writing, and a sticker activity. After, we did our activity with Miss Brett where we had to buy all of the items we needed to decorate our gingerbread men. We continued our day with reading the story 'How to Catch a Gingerbread Man' and brainstorming ideas on how we could trap him. We ended our day with building gingerbread houses! What a yummy and fun day!

Working Together

In P.E. this week all grades stepped up to complete several different team-building challenges; working on underhand throwing, target aiming, communication, listening, and problem-solving.

In health, third and fourth graders completed their lessons on medicine and first aid by creating their very own first-aid kits that they got to take home with them. Second grade continued to explore the world of germs and their immune system; while first and kindergarten discussed what makes something a want and a need.

Learning Comes Alive with Ms. Brett

This week in LMR the Third and Fourth graders researched Native American nations and the games they played. They then taught each other the games and we got to play them! The Second graders learned about supply and demand by creating and running a gingerbread man store. The Kindergarten and First graders compared and contrasted different Gingerbread Man stories.
