A Strong Start to the 2025–26 School Year

The school year has already been filled with energy, excitement, and learning across the Oroville Union High School District. From the moment students walked onto campus, our classrooms, athletic fields, and performance spaces have been alive with the spirit of growth and connection.

I want to take a moment to thank our families, staff, and community members for helping us start the year so successfully. Our teachers and support staff continue to create safe, engaging environments where students can learn and thrive. Their commitment to meaningful instruction, collaboration, and innovation is preparing our students not just for graduation, but for a future filled with opportunity.

In addition to academics, OUHSD continues to offer a wide range of extracurricular and career-technical opportunities, from Athletics and the Arts to Agriculture and Auto programs, each program provides students the chance to explore their passions and build lifelong skills. These hands-on programs not only enrich the high school experience but also prepare students with valuable, career-ready skills they can carry into college, the workforce, and beyond. It has been inspiring to see so many students already engaged in activities that support both personal growth and future success. In addition, we will be implementing hands-on working labs in our alternative education and special education programs. These labs built by an educational ally Paxton Patterson allow teachers and students to construct real world products using the appropriate plans, tools and skills required to complete job specific tasks. Next, these students will be given the opportunity to job shadow within the OUHSD comparable tasks in real world time. These simulations are valuable experiences that will help bridge the gap between school and career placement.

Our ongoing commitment to moving students into post high school job training or college level work continues throughout the year with a series of events occurring at our school sites. These events include: whole school job fairs, work placement with community businesses, educational out-reach with Community, State and University Colleges throughout our region. We also provide support in applying for financial assistance through federal platforms, (FAFSA Nights), as well as other State related financial programs. Please encourage all of our students to be on the look out for communication about these important support events.

We are committed to following our “Portrait of a Graduate” as a blueprint for working with students in order to improve their real time academic, behavioral and emotional skills while supporting their transition into their next learning phase. Looking ahead, we remain dedicated to supporting every student in reaching their goals. Through real-time access to student progress in Aeries, ongoing family partnerships, and research-based practices in the classroom, we are working together to ensure success for all students.

As Superintendent, I am proud of the strong start we’ve made and excited for the months ahead. Thank you for being an essential part of our OUHSD community and for continuing to support our students as they learn, grow, and achieve.

Warm regards,
Douglas J. Williams
Superintendent

OUHSD Staff Kick Off New School Year with Collaboration and Community

The Oroville Union High School District kicked off the 2025–26 school year with an all-staff welcome luncheon designed to bring everyone together before the first day of school. Teachers, support staff, and administrators gathered outdoors to enjoy a meal, reconnect with colleagues, and celebrate the excitement of a new year ahead. It was a chance to pause, share stories, and strengthen the sense of community that makes OUHSD such a special place for students and families alike.

This year’s back-to-school preparation also included something new: the district’s first teacher-led professional development day. Educators had the opportunity to attend breakout sessions led by their own colleagues, who shared classroom-tested strategies and innovative practices. Topics ranged from classroom management and project-based learning to building thinking classrooms, integrated literacy strategies, and trauma-informed practices.

The peer-led format created an atmosphere of collaboration and inspiration, giving staff the chance to learn directly from one another’s experiences. Teachers left the day with fresh ideas they can put into practice immediately—strategies designed to support students academically, socially, and emotionally.

As Superintendent and school leaders shared in the opening welcome, the goal of these events is simple: to prepare, inspire, and unite our staff so they can provide the very best for OUHSD students. With a strong start fueled by teamwork, professional growth, and community connection, the district is ready to welcome students back for an outstanding year of learning.

Attendance Matters - Every day in class is a step toward success!

Did you know that consistent attendance is one of the biggest predictors of student success?

We know life gets busy—that’s why the school calendar already includes weekends, holidays, and plenty of breaks to rest, recharge, and spend time away from school. From long weekends to extended breaks throughout the year, there are lots of opportunities to relax and reset.

That means when school is in session, it’s the perfect time to show up, stay focused, and keep building toward your goals.

Building a Stronger, Brighter Future: The 2025–2035 Facilities Master Plan

At Oroville Union High School District, we're laying the foundation for a decade of educational excellence. Our brand-new upcoming Facilities Master Plan (FMP), being crafted in partnership with PBK Architects, sets the roadmap for thoughtful, impactful improvements across all of our campuses from 2025 to 2035.

What’s Driving This Plan?

  • A Vision Shift: The district is investing in modernizing and renovating key infrastructure—classrooms, building systems, technology, playgrounds, and security—to create environments where students, educators, and the wider community can thrive.

  • Forward-Thinking Goals: As enrollment patterns and demographic shifts evolve, so will our facilities. The plan ensures that our schools remain adaptable and high-quality, no matter what changes lie ahead.

  • A Multi-Phase, Inclusive Process: From reviewing past construction efforts to documenting current campus needs and planning for future programmatic demands, the FMP reflects a comprehensive look at what our schools require today—and tomorrow.

Our Vision for Students and Staff

“Oroville Union High School District is committed to providing every student with equitable educational and extra-curricular opportunities that prepare them to be college and/or career ready. Every school will have a positive climate that focuses on being safe, responsible and respectful.” This isn't just a statement—it’s a promise that will be woven into the fabric of the Facilities Master Plan.

What This Means for Our Community

  • A Learning Environment That Works for Everyone: Think modern classrooms, safe spaces, better tech, and areas that reflect our district’s commitment to excellence.

  • All Voices Matter: District staff, families, educators, students, and community members will continue contributing to this evolution—it’s a plan built together, for the long haul.

  • Long-Term Impact: As enrollment changes and programs grow, we’ll be ready—proactive investment today protects student success for tomorrow.

In Summary

The 2025–2035 Facilities Master Plan shows OUHSD’s dedication to nurturing learning environments that inspire and support every student. Through smarter, more adaptive design, we’re building a district rooted in equity, opportunity, and the shared goal of student success.
