Developing life-long learners through positive collaboration
Notes from Dr. Jacob
As we head into November and the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share how thankful I am for our incredible MCE community. Every day, I see examples of kindness, teamwork, and dedication β from our hardworking staff and enthusiastic students to the families who support learning at home and show up for every event.
Iβm especially looking forward to celebrating our studentsβ 1st quarter growth at our 1st Quarter Celebration on Friday, November 7th at 8:30 a.m. This is always such a special time to recognize effort, progress, and the joy of learning. Teachers will be reaching out to families of students who will be recognized during the celebration.
This season reminds us how important it is to pause and appreciate the people and moments that make a difference. Thank you for being part of what makes MCE such a special place to learn and grow. I hope your family enjoys the upcoming holidays and takes time to rest, laugh, and celebrate together.
Together, we continue developing life-long learners through positive collaboration.
With gratitude,
Dr. Jacob
Principal, Montgomery City Elementary
π Important Health & Safety Notice: Pumpkin-Free Zone at MCE
Fall is a wonderful season of cooler weather, colorful leaves, and festive flavors. However, this year we must ask for your partnership in keeping MCE a pumpkin-free environment. For the safety of one of our students with a severe pumpkin allergy, we cannot allow pumpkin products of any kind in our school at this time.
This includes but is not limited to:
-
Whole or decorative pumpkins
-
Pumpkin flavorings, creamers, or coffees
-
Pumpkin snacks (including seeds, candy, and baked goods)
-
Pumpkin-scented lotions, body sprays, perfumes, candles, air fresheners, or hand sanitizers
We know pumpkin-flavored and pumpkin-scented items are popular this time of year, but eliminating them from our school is a crucial step in keeping all students and staff safe.
π Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to protect the health of our MCE family.
MCE Happenings
Our amazing PTO and the Original Yard Birds (Randy and Sandy Whyte) helped brighten our staffβs day with these beautiful mums!
Weβre so grateful for your generosity and the joy you bring to MCE.
π MCE Students Shine! π
Some of our 4th and 5th grade students traveled to Central Methodist University in Fayette to compete in the 2025 Mary and Ted Forbes Middle School Science and Math Competition on Tuesday October 7th!
Students engineered paper helicopters and tested their math and science knowledge in a team Kahoot. Competing against nine other schools, our 4th grade team brought home 2nd place!
Huge congratulations to:
5th Grade Team β Adelaide Healy, Ford Strube, and Olivia Lin
4th Grade Team β Lillian Elder, Miles Beattie, and Issac Nutt
These students practiced twice a week after school with Mrs. Polston, and we couldnβt be prouder of their hard work and teamwork!
PTO Fall Family Fun Night
A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for planning and hosting such a fun and memorable Family Fun Night!
Weβre so grateful for all of the volunteers and community organizations who helped make the event possible β your time, creativity, and teamwork made it shine. And a big thank you to all of our parents and families who came out to join the fun! It was a wonderful evening of celebration, connection, and community. Nights like these remind us just how special the MCE family truly is!

Your partnership and commitment to your childβs education make such a difference. We value the time you took to connect with teachers, celebrate progress, and set goals for continued growth. Together, weβre helping every Wildcat thrive!
Fall Book Fair
Thank You for an Amazing Book Fair!
Our Book Fair was a huge success thanks to our wonderful students, families, and staff! We had $9,900 in total sales, including $270 in βShare the Fairβ donations.
Because of your incredible support, we were able to give back $3,000 to our classrooms and students and add $1,000 worth of new books to our library!
A special thank-you goes out to everyone who purchased books for our teachers β 46 additional books were donated to classroom libraries!
All students who bought a classroom book were entered into a drawing, and Everett Prior was our lucky winner of a giant Dog Man!
We also had three students win posters by pulling a lucky sucker: Alayna Robinson, Adelyn Hogue, and Peyton Crocker!
Thank you again for making this Book Fair such a fun and successful event that helps spread the love of reading throughout our school!
