Santiago Canyon College Basketball
Season 9 Volume 4
Hawks Improve to 6-0 to Start the Season
Santiago Canyon stayed unbeaten and moved to 6–0 with a steady 79–64 road win at Southwestern, using balance, toughness on the glass, and timely scoring to control the game from start to finish. The Hawks set the tone early, building a 40–27 halftime lead behind strong interior play and active defense. Southwestern made a few pushes in the second half, but SCC answered every run and never let the margin dip into single digits.
Jacob De Armas delivered another all-around performance, posting 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists, while anchoring the defensive effort. Dominic Bolton gave the Hawks a huge lift off the bench with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and four makes at the line, consistently punishing Southwestern on the offensive glass. Salim Semaan stayed efficient with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, and Jayden Oei added 9 points, 2 steals, and steady guard play. Paris Lassiter chipped in 9 points and 5 boards, while Chico Lopez battled for 8 rebounds to go with his 9 points. SCC dominated the rebounding battle 45–34, piled up 15 assists, and held Southwestern to tough, contested looks most of the night. Even without their best shooting from three, the Hawks’ depth and pressure carried them through another convincing win on the road.
Santiago Canyon returns home this Wednesday, November 26th at 5pm to host Mt. San Antonio college. The Hawks will look to extend its perfect start as momentum continues to build early in the season.
