A Note from the Principal:

I hope everyone has the opportunity to rest during this 3 day Labor Day weekend. As we pause, please also take this time to check with your scholar concerning their adjustment to the new school year. I will be doing the same and here are some of my reflections.

  • Our campus showed academic growth on the spring 2023 administration of the STAAR test in the majority of the tested subjects. Some areas indicated double digit growth.
  • We developed one way hallways to improve safety measures during passing periods.
  • We intentionally recruited quality teachers to instruct our scholars.
  • We had a group of scholars selected to participate in a focus group with a consulting firm for the sake of long-range planning for our district. They represented our campus well and were very impressive.
  • We began the year with intentional focus to the social emotional needs of our scholars. Our counselors have been working on strategic partnerships to assist our scholars. One of which is the UNT Talent Search program. This will be launching soon - stay tuned!
  • With the help of our All Pro Dads and CHISD Security & Police Department, we have made adjustments to our morning drop off routines. This is an intentional effort to improve safety measures.

Last week all scholars were supposed to take the NWEA Map tests. However, not all scholars were able to test because they do not possess a Chromebook or they were absent. If you owe fees for lost or damaged Chromebooks, please take care of those fees. Your scholar's academic success and productivity is heavily dependent on this very important instructional tool.

It is imperative that all scholars bring their charged Chromebooks with them daily. We need all scholars present, on time, focused and committed to their personal scholastic achievement.

  • All CHISD schools will be closed Monday, September 4th in observance of Labor Day.
  • Thank you for joining us for our Secondary Meet the Teacher Night on August 29th. Please remember to follow up with your scholar's teachers if you need more specific dialogue and time to discuss concerns.
  • Please make note that all middle school scholars must wear their ID badges to all CHISD athletic functions and be accompanied by their parents/guardians. This does not include one adult accompanying different scholars that they do not serve as their parent/guardian.
  • If your scholar started the school year with an unnatural hair color (blue, pink, bright red, orange, etc.) they have until October 5th to correct it and get the color within CHISD dress code.
  • CHISD has added a Voter-Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to the November 7th Ballot. Please click here to learn amore information about the proposed VATRE and important voter registration guidelines and deadlines.
  • Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged Chromebooks. Insurance is available and worth the investment. Click here to learn more information and sign up for insurance for your scholar's Chromebook.
  • Please make note of upcoming events for the month of September.

Faithfully,

Dr. Lemons
