CONNECT AND THRIVE!
The Principal's Desk
I love spring! There’s something special about watching everything come back to life after winter. I look forward to Spring Break each year — a little time to get my hands dirty refreshing my flower beds and reading everything I can get my hands on (after I wash up) feels like the perfect reset.
Of course, the return from Spring Break also signals the beginning of the final quarter of our school year. The months ahead are full of important milestones, celebrations, assessments, and accomplishments. There is much to do as we finish strong, but I have no doubt that our students, staff, and families are more than up to the task.
Just like a garden in the spring, this is the season when growth becomes visible. I’m excited to see all that our school community will accomplish as we move through these final nine weeks together and begin laying the groundwork for a strong and healthy next school year.
Warm regards,
Dr. Lucas
CRITICAL INFO 📌
💻⚠️ Spring Break SSO Outages
Our district will be completing important infrastructure updates that will require temporary internet outages. During these times, access to the district’s Single Sign-On (SSO) system will be unavailable. This will limit student access to Edgenuity courses and CTE Pathway classes, including CTE recovery courses.
To ensure students have adequate time to complete their required coursework, the deadline for CTE Pathway recovery classes has been extended to March 22. We appreciate your patience as the district works to improve our systems.
⭐ STAAR/EOC Interventions ⭐
Throughout the month of March, our teachers will be providing additional learning supports and targeted interventions for students enrolled in STAAR- and EOC-tested subjects. These sessions have been thoughtfully designed using content-area data collected throughout the year, individual student needs, and an understanding that intervention plans may differ by grade level to ensure they are developmentally appropriate.
Each teacher has shared their intervention plan with Dr. Lucas to ensure alignment and focus. We are confident these supports will help students build confidence, strengthen key skills, and continue growing academically.
Strong participation during testing season benefits not only individual students, but our entire school community. When students show up and give their best effort on STAAR and EOC assessments, it reflects the strength of our virtual model and helps create continued opportunities — including the potential for greater flexibility granted by the district for our students in the future.
If a teacher reaches out about intervention opportunities, it is because they see meaningful potential for growth. We encourage families to support attendance and engagement in these sessions as we work together to make March a month of progress and shared success.
Course Selection for 2026–2027 🎓
We’re excited to begin planning for the 2026–27 school year! Now is the time for students and families to think ahead and select courses for the grade level your student will be entering next year. Please be sure to complete the appropriate course selection form by March 20.
- Rising Freshmen (class of 2029)
- Rising 8th graders (class of 2030)
- Rising 7th graders (class of 2031)
- Rising 6th graders (class of 2032)
We anticipate that additional CTE Pathway electives may soon become available for our rising 8th and 9th grade students. Once those options are finalized, we will share that information directly with those families so they can review them and make informed decisions.
