Sending your transcripts
Your transcript is a document that contains your final class grades from all four years of high school, your GPA, rank, credit count, SAT and ACT test scores and your vaccinations. When you graduate it will also list your diploma type. When applying to colleges you must submit a copy of your current transcript. This is done electronically through parchment or the Common Application. If you send a transcript through one of these sites you don't have to request it through the other one.
You will make an account here and can apply to several colleges at the same time through an online application. When filling out the application you will at some point put in your counselor's email address and we will be asked through email to upload your transcript and fill out your student report. If a college is not listed in Common Application you will need to request your transcript be sent through parchment.
Parchment
You will make an account here and put in a request to send your transcript from Mt. Vernon High School Fortville, IN to the college(s) you're applying to. Watch this short video on how to create an account and request your transcript.
*When you apply for scholarships they may also want a copy of your official transcript. You will request that from Mrs. Fleming in the counseling office. You can either stop by the counseling center or email her at kelly.fleming@mvcsc.k12.in.us.
Understanding the FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will open on October 1st. To receive any Federal or State funding for post-secondary education, parents/students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or the FAFSA. The FAFSA is based on the previous year’s tax records and income. To be considered for State Aid the FAFSA must be filed by April 15th. Mt. Vernon High School has several ways to help with this sometimes difficult process.
- Check out the Financial Aid Information page on our counseling website.
- Video on how to fill out the FAFSA
- FAFSA worksheet to help when filling out the application online.
- Common questions about the FAFSA.
- Find out who counts as your parent when you file your FAFSA form here.
