October 5, 2025

Dear Dryden Families,
What a fun and exciting week we had at Dryden! On Thursday, we had a special visit from Echo the Dolphin, our beloved school mascot, to celebrate the PTA’s successful Fund the ’Phin Fundraiser! Echo stopped by during lunch recess to high-five students, pose for pictures, and thank everyone for their amazing support. Many thanks to all who contributed! Your generosity helps make so many wonderful experiences possible for our students. (Photos below!)
Also on Thursday, our students in grades K–3 enjoyed the Land of Smiles Assembly, a lively, live-action interactive performance all about how to take great care of our teeth. The engaging presenters used humor, storytelling, and audience participation to teach students the importance of brushing and flossing, making healthy food choices, and visiting the dentist regularly. It was a fun and memorable way for our youngest Dolphins to learn how to keep their smiles bright and healthy! (Photos below!)
To top off the day, we ended the evening with a fantastic K–2 Activity Night hosted by our incredible PTA! Students came to school after hours to listen to fun music, play gaga ball, climb the rock wall, have scooter races, and enjoy a variety of other activities. We were also thrilled to have the University of Chicago’s Active Playful Learning team join us again, engaging our youngest Dolphins in hands-on math and STEM challenges. It was a wonderful evening of movement, learning, and connection. (Photos below!)
Thank you to our PTA, staff, and families for helping make this week so special. Dryden truly shines because of the care, energy, and partnership of our whole community.
With appreciation,
Jessica Martinsen
