CLASS NEWS CLASS NEWS

Dear PK4 Parents,

This week we have been reflecting on our emotions. As we explored each color of the mood meter we said All emotions and feelings are okay! We might not like the way a feeling sits with us and we have the power to make choices that can move us on the mood meter! If we are feeling sleepy we can rest our body by taking a water break or resting quietly. If we are so high energy we are out of control we can practice deep breathing or give ourselves a big squeeze hug! We also reviewed that we can make choices to keep us feeling happy, calm, energized, etc. Like using our words to say what we mean and ask for what we want. That we can be friendly to all, share, and listen to others so they know we care for them.

Alongside our emotions, we have also been having fun with shapes! We explored 2D shapes by looking at their unique attributes, got creative by making our own shapes out of various classroom materials, and went on a shape hunt around the school to search for circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles hiding in our everyday environment.

Math Focus for Next Week:

We will be stepping into the world of patterns! We will be looking closely at repeating sequences, discovering how things order themselves, and practicing how to identify, extend, and even create our own patterns using colors, shapes, and everyday objects. It’s a wonderful hands-on way to build critical thinking and problem-solving skills while having fun.

ELAR Focus for Next Week:

We will be engaging all five senses! As we read and write together, we will explore sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch, connecting our sensory experiences to descriptive vocabulary. Through stories and interactive discussions, kiddos will learn how to use rich, sensory words to share what they notice about the world around them.
