CME PTO Weekly

We are HALF WAY to our Ninja Cougar Challenge event that will take place on 9/25, and we're at 60% of our fundraising goal! We think that this is AMAZING progress, but we would love to see some more participation. Only 47% of our students who are registered have received a donation - let's see if we can bump that to at least 75% by Monday! Don't forget to share your child's webpage with family and friends, and even put it on your social media if you feel comfortable - SO many donations come in from someone seeing it on Facebook and Instagram, and it’s also a great way to help fill up our map and get a donation from all 50 states!

The prizes have started coming home, so hopefully your child will be pumped up and motivated to earn something that they haven't earned yet (we are still waiting on one of the prizes to arrive in the mail, so if you think something is missing, hopefully it will be in tomorrow's or next week's prize distribution).

Don't forget, if you don't want to pay the credit card transaction fee on the FundHub website, that's totally optional! We are also able to accept checks and cash, which incur no fee, and we get to keep 100%. If you'd like to donate this way, just leave your donation in the office with your child's name and their teacher's name so that they can get the credit. Thank you for all of your support!

Also, please make sure you fill out the waiver from Ninja Nation HERE before the event, or else your child will NOT be able to participate - whether they have registered or not.

To increase our percentage of students who are registered with a donation, we will be holding a Weekend Donation Challenge! ANY student who brings in ANY donation between Friday and Monday morning will go into a drawing for a special extra prize! We will draw TEN names on Monday. Share those webpages to increase your chances (and if you haven't registered yet, please check out the registration website HERE)!!

We would love some volunteers to help at the event on 9/25. On the event day, we need a few people to help the Ninja Nation staff to organize the kids, and also hand out popsicles after each grade participates. Please check out THIS SIGN UP if you want to help out!

Another one of our favorite Spirit Nights is returning this month at Cold Stone! Come see your teachers and staff members scoop and mix your favorite creations, all while giving back to Copper Mesa. Mark your calendars for September 29th, from 4-7pm, and we will update you with a schedule of which staff will be scooping at what times.

We were lucky to be selected to host the In-N-Out Truck again this year! This is an amazing fundraiser for us, where they give us 75% of the profits, and donate the remainder to their charity for underprivileged children. We hope you'll join us on October 2nd, from 5-7pm to enjoy some dinner and hang with your friends and neighbors! You MUST pre-order a ticket, which you can do HERE. For $8 you will get a burger or cheeseburger, chips and a drink. They are served as is, unless there is an allergy. We need to give them a head count a week before the event, so ticket sales will END on 9/24. Don't miss out!!

We were having trouble deciding on what project to spend these funds on, but we now have some options and would love to hear what YOU want the money to go towards! If you'd like to have your say, please check out the following slide deck with the options, and vote for your favorite via the Google Form (linked below and also linked in the slide deck), by September 21st. We will announce the winning option before the event, so you will know exactly what your child is raising money for!

Things are starting to fall into place with the Outdoor Learning Garden project! The biggest update is that Home Depot approved our grant and is going to generously donate more than $10,000 worth of supplies for the space. We have scheduled a workday on Tuesday, September 22 from 9 AM - 3 PM in which they will provide a team of experts to help us level the space, build a beautiful pathway, install irrigation, and plant more than 140 native plants and fruit trees.

The plants and fruit trees have been generously donated by Resource Central, the DCSD Office of Sustainability, and the Douglas County Conservation District.

The Girl Scouts were so excited to present the plans for the garden to the teachers this past week as part of their Silver Award Project! Kate and Kylie gifted them with two gardening kits, three outdoor investigation kits, and sample outdoor lesson plans that can be checked out of the science room throughout the year.

Our next step is to recruit volunteers for the Home Depot workday. We know that a weekday is not ideal, but that's when Home Depot has team members available to help with materials, expertise, and hands-on support.

Many employers offer paid volunteer time, community service days, or VTO (Volunteer Time Off), so we are hoping some parents will be able to join us for a 2-3 hour shift that day.

Got a knack for party planning? Love reaching out to local businesses? Looking to get your hands dirty (We know for a fact there are some interested dads out there!)?

We are always looking for volunteers for Teacher/Staff Appreciation, our Daughter Event, our Son Event, School Beautification, our Spring Fundraiser, etc. If you would like to volunteer with PTO in any way, please let us know.

Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.

The purpose of the program:

1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.

One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year our total donation received is in excess of $15,000. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
