Rock and Roll Bingo
Join us for the 2nd annual Rock and Roll Bingo on Friday, November 2nd. It’s not too late to grab some friends and get a table and support the Hixson Middle Social Courtesy Committee. This committee supports teachers in a variety of ways in the building. The money raised will continue to support our teachers during times of celebration to times of grief. The funds also support teachers throughout the year during parent teacher conference meals to teacher appreciation week. In addition, the committee is splitting the funds generated and giving a portion to the Student Activity Fund. The student activity fund supports kids from providing lunches, school supplies to supplementing field trips.
In addition to winning prize baskets for each round, you can also play the raffle for a chance to win the following for your child:
- Pick your 8th grade locker
- Principal for the Day
- Counselor for the Day
- Resource Officer for the Day
- Orchestra Concert Preferred Seats (4)
- Band Concert Preferred Seats (4)
- Choir Concert Preferred Seats (4)
- Lunch with the Counselors
We hope you will join us for an evening of music, fun and laughter! If you have any questions, want to make a donation to the gift baskets or get a table- please contact Gail Tumminello.

Teens Starving for Intimacy: An Epidemic of Disconnect in the Age of Connection
There has been an increase in anxiety and depression in adolescents over the last few years, and along with this, a common thread: kids are craving emotional intimacy, yet are unsure how to connect and create this intimacy, not only with parents, but also with peers. In a world where we are all so technologically “connected”, why are they coming up empty?
This presentation will aim to explore this question, provide helpful guidelines for technology usage, and present solutions to helping our young people gain the skills to connect . The presentation is on Monday, October 29th in the Steger Auditorium. The presentation will begin at 6pm and will last for about one hour and will be followed by 30 minutes for Q & A.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.

Dodgeball Tournament
Attention Middle School Parents:
We are excited to announce that our annual Blacklight Dodgeball Tournament for the high school is now bigger than ever before! New for 2018: We are hosting the tournament at Rockin’ Jump Trampoline Park in Shrewsbury and will offer a separate middle school dodgeball tournament. This includes Steger and Hixson. This tournament will benefit the Webster Groves High School DECA club, which is a business education group, and support experiential learning opportunities including the trip to New York this winter.
Students are strongly encouraged to form a team of five players and decide on a team name--profanity or inappropriate names will not be accepted. Parents are asked to please assist students in signing up as there is a MANDATORY WAIVER that is to be filled out for Rockin’ Jump. If a student has been to Rockin’ Jump in the past 4 months, they will not need to fill out a waiver.
Our tournament will be held on November 5th, 2018 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. This is a Monday, however there is NO SCHOOL the next day
The deadline to sign up is October 24th and space is limited to 16 teams and SPOTS WILL FILL UP FAST!!!
Students may also choose to sign up and have be assigned randomly to a team or sign up and just come to jump at the park with their friends.
The price PER PLAYER is $15 AT THE DOOR and this includes an awesome T-Shirt and admission to the event. This is much cheaper than Rockin’ Jump’s prices (it is $21 for 2 hours normally, and no T-Shirt)
If your player has Trampoline Socks (Ex. Sky Zone, Flying Spider, Rockin’ Jump) they are strongly encouraged to bring their own but if the student does not own any they will be provided.
Winners each receive a $10 gift card to Webers! (which makes for a great after-tournament dinner)
Registration is FREE so sign up today!
