Madonna Catholic School News

Dear Madonna Families,
As we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, we’re taking a moment to think about what it really means for Jesus to be our King. In Luke 23:35–43, Jesus is on the cross showing mercy, love, and forgiveness. Even while suffering, He welcomes the repentant thief into paradise. This reminds us that Jesus’ kingship isn’t about power or control—it’s about saving, loving, and caring for each one of us. His throne is the cross, and His crown is love.
Today as we woke up we recieved the blessed news that our Edmonton Archdiocese will be receiving a new leader. Bishop Steven Hero has been named the Archbishop of Edmonton. He is a man of great faith, and someone you might recognize as he was formerly placed in Edmonton and spent time supporting those called to voactions at St Joseph's Seminary.
As we move through this special time in the Church year, we encourage everyone to reflect on how we can follow Jesus’ example by choosing kindness, forgiveness, and compassion every day.
Blessings,
Mrs. Cathy Hinger, Principal
Mrs. Fiona Wimmer, Assistant Principal

Parking Lot Safety Reminder
We kindly ask all parents and guardians to take extra care when dropping off and picking up students. In both the morning and after school, only the first six parking stalls at the entrance of the parking lot are available for parent use.
All remaining stalls are reserved for Madonna Catholic School staff and Boys & Girls Club staff.
This week, we experienced two very concerning close calls when drivers entered the lot and then reversed out the entire length of the lane. This creates a significant safety risk for students, staff, and other families. There is plenty of space to drop off students along Malvern Drive, especially in the morning.
Please help us keep our school community safe by following the designated parking guidelines and exercising caution at all times. We all share the responsibility of ensuring a safe environment for our children.
Thank you for your cooperation and care.
