Aeroponic Gardening at BMHS Aeroponic Gardening at BMHS

This week, Mrs. Baillie and Mrs. Bohley assembled our new Tower Gardens. These will be utilized in our Family and Consumer Science courses at BMHS to harness aeroponic growing technology. It will offer our students a clean, simple, and efficient way to grow fresh and healthy foods. We look forward to seeing these in the halls of BMHS in the 2021-2022 school year!

Masks Still Required! Masks Still Required!

While much is changing with regard to mask mandates by the CDC and the Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has not issued firm guidance on changes. Regardless, the Burgettstown Area School District Health and Safety Plan v.5 states that masks are required. So, until such time as the Department of Education overrides our health and safety plan or the plan is changed, masks will still be required.

2021 STEM Design Challenge Regional Competition Winners! 2021 STEM Design Challenge Regional Competition Winners!

Congratulations to Henry Miller and Andrew Krivak for their winning project in the 2021 Regional STEM Design Challenge! The team placed 1st in the region and qualified to compete in the 2021 State STEM Design Challenge.

Students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania were given a challenge and asked to design a prototype of their idea using K'Nex pieces, along with blueprints, a design notebook, and a video presentation. This year, the teams of engineers were encouraged to create a website to include all the pieces of their design challenge.

The STEM Design Challenge begins at our regional Intermediate Units and is generously supported by Thermo Fisher Scientific. Each year, over 5000 students in Pennsylvania participate in the competition.
