Parent/Teacher Conferences
Chaparral Parents/Guardians,
We would like to invite you to our Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, March 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the CHS commons, large gym and small gym. Conferences are a great time to get to know your student’s teachers and become more familiar with classroom expectations. Conferences are an open house format, so there is no need to make an appointment. Here are a few key points and helpful hints to make the evening productive:
We ask that conferences are limited to 5 minutes, given the open house nature of the evening.
It would be helpful to review your student’s grades and attendance prior to attending.
Make sure to have a list of your student’s teachers or the Parent Portal app handy so that you know who you need to meet with.
Jot down any questions or concerns you may have.
Make yourself an observer in Canvas so you can access courses during the conference if a teacher references it.
If you are unsure how to approach the conversation with a teacher, here are some suggestions for starting the conversation:
What is it that you see as my students areas of strength and what might be their areas of growth?
What are the things that we as parents can do at home to assist in the academic progress of our student?
What is the best time or day that our student can access you for additional support?
If you are unable to attend conferences, but would like to schedule a phone or virtual conference with one or more teachers, please contact each teacher directly.
We look forward to seeing you next Thursday night!

Dance Eligibility & Attendance Policy
Supporting Academic Success through Consistent Attendance
To uphold our ongoing commitment to academic success and student engagement, Chaparral High School enforces an attendance policy for all school-sponsored dances. We believe that consistent attendance is vital to academic achievement and overall school involvement.
The Eligibility Requirement
To attend school dances, students must maintain a consistent presence in their classes. Students who accumulate more than 20% total absences will be ineligible to attend dances, including Homecoming, Winter Dance, and Prom.
Note: We encourage students to monitor their attendance records regularly throughout the semester to ensure they remain eligible for these events.
Support & Communication
We recognize that some students may encounter personal or medical challenges that affect their attendance. If your student is facing such circumstances, please communicate with their Counselor and Assistant Principal as soon as possible. Our goal is to support every student’s success. We are committed to working with families to address attendance concerns and find solutions before eligibility is impacted.

Chap After Prom Committee Needs Your Shoes!
The Chap After Prom Committee is partnering with Funds2orgs to collect gently worn, used and new shoes. Get a head start on spring cleaning, give your unused shoes a new lease on life, and help support a fun, safe night for Chap students. Donated shoes go to developing countries where they are sold by micro-entrepreneurs in their communities.
Help spread the word by reaching out to family, friends and neighbors. Heading to the big Chap vs. Legend basketball games Friday? Bring along a pair of shoes. Donation bins are located near the theater and the library until March 24.
