Bluejacket Blueprint: The Access
July 23, 2026
Dear Bluejacket Families,
We understand how important it is for families to quickly find the information they need and feel connected to their schools. That is why we continue to improve our website, mobile app, and other family tools.
Our updated website and mobile app bring district news, resources, events, and notifications together in one place. Families will also have access to an updated Skyward Family Access experience and app, along with a smoother athletics and activities registration process.
As these systems are completed and the start of the new year approaches, we will continue sharing information with all families.
Please contact dist-communications@c-ischools.org with questions or for help finding information.
We are committed to providing clear, reliable communication and ensuring families can easily access the resources they need.
Our rollover to the updated Skyward Family Access platform is complete. Families will need to uninstall their existing Skyward Family Access app and reinstall it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to access the newest version of the software. Although it is the same app, reinstalling it is required to connect to the updated system.
Having Tech Trouble?
If the app still appears to be the old version or indicates that you are locked out, your device may still be storing data from the previous installation. Open your device's app settings, clear the app's data and cache, and then try opening the app again.
If you continue to experience issues, please contact the Enrollment Department for troubleshooting support.
Important Next Steps:
β Complete student verification in Skyward Family Access by September 2 for each of your children. [Hereβs how] This is required for all returning families.
β Moved recently? Update your address during the student verification process so we can plan bus routes. Address changes throughout the year should be sent to cienrollment@c-ischools.org.
Note: Only the primary guardian can update student data. Secondary guardians may update their own contact info, but not the studentβs. Forgot your login? Click Forgot Password on the Skyward login page.
Skyward information is confidential. District staff use it to build bus routes, serve students, and communicate with you.
π Transportation Updates
Cambridge-Isanti Schools is working to ensure a smooth start to the school year. Please review the items below β most families will not need to take any action.
Deadline: All forms below are due by August 1 to ensure transportation is in place for the first day of school.
Do any of these apply to your family?
Your student needs care at a childcare location β Complete the Alternate Care Transportation Form
Your student needs transportation to two households (court-ordered joint custody) β Complete the Dual Household Transportation Form
Your student will not ride the bus this year (but qualifies) β Complete the Opt-Out Form
Your student did NOT need transportation last year but WILL this year β Complete the Transportation Question Form
You want to change or remove a form from last year (opt-out, alternate care, or dual household) β Complete the Transportation Question Form
You moved over the summer β Update your address during student verification in Skyward Family Access
You want to request a bus stop change β Review the Guidelines for Bus Stops first, then submit the Bus Stop Change Request Form. Note: requests are not processed during the first 3 weeks of school.
None of these apply? No action is needed.
Good to know
Opt-out, alternate care, and dual household forms stay in effect every year once submitted β you only need to update them if something changes.
Alternate care sites must be the same location every day, within the attending school's boundary, and are intended for the full school year. Mid-year changes are strongly discouraged and may not be possible.
Thanks to Minnesota legislation passed in 2023, every student continues to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day.
A few things to know:
What's free
One complete breakfast (includes a fruit or vegetable and milk)
One school lunch from the daily menu (includes milk)
What's not covered
Second servings or extra entrΓ©es
Γ la carte items (snacks, specialty items)
Individual milk cartons or bottled water sold separately
Students still need to know their PIN at checkout even for free meals.
Do any of these apply to your family?
Your child buys extra items or beverages β Beginning in mid-August, add funds and set up low-balance alerts through Skyward Family Access
You want to apply for Educational Benefits (not required for free meals, but may qualify your child for reduced Athletics/Activities, Community Education, and ACT/AP Testing fees) β Submit the application, which was mailed home mid-July, or apply online via Skyward Family Access under Food Service
Good to know
No application is needed to receive free breakfast and lunch.
Applications for Educational Benefits must be completed every school year, even if you applied before.
If you don't qualify now but your income or family size changes during the year, you can reapply for Educational Benefits at any time.
Once processed, you'll receive a letter (by mail or email) confirming your eligibility.
Watch for additional updates from Food Service in the coming weeks.
