Keep Our School Zone Safe

Safety is our top priority and keeping students safe from arrival through dismissal is a team effort. Our community partners, the Central Bucks Regional Police, help us with this each day. In collaboration with local law enforcement, we would like to remind you that when you enter the school zone in the morning and afternoon the speed limit is 15MPH, there is no flexibility in this limit. As you exit the school parking lot we ask that you abide by all traffic laws and be particularly mindful of your speed.

Camp Out With A Good Book

Today, our Owls had an opportunity to stop and read for pleasure during our school wide Camp Out with a Good Book event. Both in-person, virtual students & teachers enjoyed flashlight reading while relaxing with a self-selected book. According to the International Reading Association, years of studies show that leisure reading enhances students’ reading comprehension, language, vocabulary development, general knowledge, and empathy for others, as well as their self-confidence as readers, motivation to read throughout their lives, and positive attitudes toward reading. Fostering a love of reading is an important part of our work. We hope you will take an opportunity this weekend to find a quiet spot and read for pleasure.

SPARK Article #5

In previous newsletters, we introduced the idea of what is a Spark and how your child can identify their individual passion. We also shared some videos to generate ideas for beginning the process. But what is your role as parent or guardian on this journey. As Peter Benson states in his book, Sparks (2008), “Your best role is to be the captain of your child’s spark team.”

What does this mean? Children really do want their parents to be involved in their lives and being that spark champion will increase the connection between you. For some of you with older children, you might be shaking your heads but it really is true. Younger kids delight in sharing their successes with their parents but the older ones may do this more internally. However they express this, know that all children want their parents to be the leader of their spark team. This role is easier the earlier you start the conversation. With an encouraging attitude, you can be an integral part of them finding that spark.

You are not alone in this mission. Children have a community to draw from for their spark team. Other family members, teachers, neighbors, coaches, mentors, and bosses can all take a hand in the development of our children by sharing their own stories and being there to listen and show encouragement. Take the lead and you and your child will benefit from your involvement.

What to know about streaming at Pine Run

There seems to be some confusion about when and how students stream instruction when they are unable to attend school in-person. I want to help, if I can, to clarify the expectation.

  • Streaming is for prolonged illness and COVID related absences. This could include:
    • Waiting for test results
    • Close contact
    • Positive case
    • Required quarantine
  • It is not for while the child is ON vacation
  • It is not for a one or two day “cold” absence
  • It may not start on day 1 of your child's time at home

Many teachers will need to take that first day to prepare materials and links for your child, while some may already be streaming. Please be patient with your child's teacher and front office as we navigate the many unique circumstances we are faced with each day with each new situation.

Thank you

We can't wait to meet our new Owls!

We are very excited to announce that our Spring 2021 iRun4Life running program is available through our free iRun4Life App. Now, more than ever, it is important to motivate your kids to be healthy, and offer them fun and engaging exercise options they can do safely at home. To join our Spring Running Program, all you need to do is download the free iRun4Life App in the Apple or Android store – just search for “iRun4Life.”

Our weekly iRun4Life running program is available in the “Running & Fitness” link. Similar to our in person after school running program, there are weekly warm up exercises, running schedules, and cool down exercises that are updated each month. After running, your kids can click on the red link to log their miles and good deeds – just like the kids did last year. And they can still run with their friends in a safe environment. The only difference is that the children will be running in their neighborhood, or in a local park rather than at school. Another exciting feature of this year’s running program are yoga and dance videos.

Another feature of our running program is Healthy Nutrition. This is also available in our App through the Healthy Recipe link, where you will find family friendly healthy Snack, Meals, and Dessert recipes that our easy to make with your kids.

This year has been extremely challenging, and many of our kids’ physical and mental well-being have suffered. Our iRun4Life app will ensure your kids are healthy, and allow them to grow with our running program, as so many other kids have in years past.

Family Travel Approval Request Form

Our Family Travel form has been updated, Family Travel Approval Request. It is important that if you travel out of state that you check the PA Government website, found here, to see if your destination is on the recommended quarantine list. Please read the document carefully as many family friendly vacation destinations will require your child to stay home from school for 14 days upon your return.
