Success Begins with a Teacher

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”— William Arthur Ward (source: https://www.gcu.edu/blog/teaching-school-administration/why-passion-teaching-ignites-joy) The Texas IB Conference 2025 highlighted teachers of the year and rising stars from across the TCIS partnership schools. TCIS will continue sharing the stories of these great teachers by including them in the Network News. Please join TCIS as we honor this week’s inspiring teachers.

Proud of the IB/Dual Language Connection  by Dr. Matt Weber Proud of the IB/Dual Language Connection by Dr. Matt Weber

IB campuses embrace multilingual and multicultural cultural perspectives. The decisive advantages of being multilingual are both professional and social. The escalating number of English Language Learners enriches our culture when embraced and cultivated. In the expanding international job market, bilingualism is a growing component in vacancy requirements as corporations serve a more diverse and multilingual clientele, foreign and domestic.

With globalization, translators and interpreters are increasingly in demand for both the public and private sectors. We can see the evidence for bilingual workers here in San Antonio employment ads. The Department of Labor lists occupations requiring bilingual candidates in the top fifteen fastest-growing careers. From 2010 to 2020, the United States experienced a 42 percent growth in these professions, rising to nearly 25,000. Forecasters anticipate this tendency to continue into the next several decades.

The partnership between IB and Dual Language programs in SAISD and EISD is a point of pride for TCIS. As balanced, open-mind educators, promoting multilingualism demonstrates acceptance of other cultures and enhances communication skills. We will continue to refine the IB/Dual Language integration as a model for other campuses to emulate.

October can often feel like one of the busiest and most demanding months of the school year, and it’s important to take a moment to recognize the incredible effort each of you puts in every day. As you balance parent conferences, new curriculum, and the many responsibilities that come with leading and teaching, remember to take care of yourselves and one another. Continue to prioritize what matters most—our students and their learning—while finding moments of balance and connection. Thank you for your dedication, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to keeping students first in all that you do.

TCIS has purchased ALL of the Lowman products currently available for you to use. They have moved to a new website. The old website is no longer connected to their database, so no accounts can be updated hence you not being able to reset your password. Therefore each staff member, new or prior to the campus, will need to follow the instructions below:

EVERYONE will need to create a new account and register by following the directions below.

  1. Go to LowmanEducation.com
  2. Click on “25-26 Library” in the top, right corner
  3. Then click on the “Login” button
  4. You can register with the Microsoft Outlook button
  5. If you are unable to use Outlook, use Alternative Login (also using your district email)
  6. You will need to click on “Register as a new user” (don’t skip this step or you will get an error)
  7. Complete your profile to access your library of products.

If you have any questions, you can email support@lowmaneducation.com for customer support. They are very responsive.

This is a new website, so please have some patience. If you are not able to access items by Tuesday, August 19th, please let me know and I will work with you and Lowman to troubleshoot, but feel free to email their support team.
