Henry Happenings

May 3, 2026
Dear Families,
Thank you for your support last Monday as we navigated the tornado warning while several parents were arriving for student pickup and others were calling the school. As a reminder, during a tornado warning, our staff must leave the office to stay safe and cannot allow student checkouts until the warning has passed. We always welcome parents at the door and invite them into the building to remain safe during severe weather. We understand this may be inconvenient, but the safety of our students, staff, and families is always our highest priority. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
This week, our students in grade 5 will begin Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) testing. A reminder that it is normal for students to feel some nerves, and families can help by keeping routines consistent, ensuring a good night’s sleep, providing a healthy breakfast, and encouraging a positive mindset. Please remind your child that this is an opportunity to show what they have learned, to focus on doing their best, and that they are more than a test score. We are proud of their hard work and growth this year and appreciate your partnership in supporting them during testing week.
Staff appreciation week is this week! If you have a staff member you would like to honor with a Staff Bulldog Brag you can do it here! It is always great to honor teachers/staff this week or any time with a kind message!

Car Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
Please remember for the safety of all, to continue to comply with our route for pick up and drop off procedures. We have many walkers and bike riders that utilize mutiple crosswalks and it is imperative that our cars follow the same driving patterns each day. Please review and follow the procedure if you drop off/pick up your child in a car. Thanks for your help!
In collaboration with the Ballwin Police Department, to keep our car drop-off & pick-up lane safe and the traffic moving on Henry Ave, please follow the route through the neighborhood as outlined below. Please help us keep the non-school traffic moving on Henry Avenue by following this right turn only plan and NOT making a left turn from Henry Ave into the school lot. Please only enter the Henry lot AFTER you have been on Guenevere.

Field Day - May 21 - Looking for Volunteers!
We are so excited for our 2026 Field Day! We are looking for two volunteers for each station. This year we are offering AM shifts and PM shifts. Volunteers will be provided with a printout of station directions, and everything will be set up for you ahead of time. It's going to be a great day full of fun! Once you sign up, be on the lookout for an email from us with your arrival time and station details. Thank you for helping out! - Mrs. Howren & Mr. Pettus
Notes From the Library
Summer is the best time to read! We are welcoming Lindsay Bacus from St. Louis County Library to Henry on May 13th to help us get excited about summer reading. Students will learn about SLCL's summer reading program and all the prizes they can earn. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Goyal.
Additionally, our own Henry Library has a summer reading program for all our Henry Readers (students in 1-5th grades for 2026-2027). A packet of information will go home on Field Day about both summer reading opportunities. If you need more information you will be able to find it on the Henry Library Website.

Staff Bulldog Brag
Did you know that families can recognize staff members with Bulldog Brags, just like we do for students? If you or your child notice a staff member demonstrating one of our Henry Core Values—Kind, Responsible, Persevere, or Inclusive—we invite you to share it using the button below.
Each staff member who receives a Bulldog Brag will be honored with a certificate and a special surprise. As part of our character education, it is important for students to see adults modeling these values every day—and to hear real examples of what they look like in action!
