Fisher FamilyUpdateJanuary 15, 2026

Good Afternoon Fisher Families,

Congratulations to our talented students Faye, Shlok, Eleanor, Veer, Vivienne, Raisa, Everly and Lorelei who were selected as winners of the Dedham Savings Bank Holiday Card Contest! It was clear from their beautiful designs that they put tremendous effort and creativity into their work. We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the way they represent our school community.

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow or Monday. We hope all of our families enjoy the extra-long weekend and take time to rest, recharge, and spend time together!

Brian

If there is snow on the ground, please remember to send your students to school with snow pants, boots, hats and mittens (don't forget to label them) for recess. They will be unable to play in the snow without them.

Also, we are collecting, good to excellent, used snowpants and boots for students at Fisher. Please think of us if you are doing any closet cleanouts.

Kindergarten Registration Kindergarten Registration

WPS 2026-2027 kindergarten pre-registration will be open from January 2nd through January 31st, 2026. To pre-register a kindergarten age-qualified* child, a parent or legal guardian must complete the online registration form (scroll down to kindergarten pre-registration). Early registration is best, as it helps the district with budget and scheduling.

*Kindergarten age-qualified children are those who turn five (5) years old before September 1st of the school year for which they are pre-registering.

If you are unable to drop off documents at your neighborhood school during the day, the Superintendents’ Office (135 School Street, Room 204) is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Tuesday 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM, and Friday 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM.

If your child is currently enrolled or receiving special education services through Daniel Feeney Preschool Center, you do not need to submit the online registration form, birth certificate, or proof of residency. However, you will need to provide the elementary school with a copy of your child’s latest physical.

Fisher’s Finest Rally Against Cancer - January 2026 Fisher’s Finest Rally Against Cancer - January 2026

“Fisher’s Finest Rally Against Cancer 2026 - The Last Hurrah” is in full swing! Our Change for a Cure jars are located in each classroom awaiting donations of change, and maybe even that forgotten dollar bill that you found in your coat pocket the first time you wore it! They’re filling up, and it’s such an important lesson for us all to learn. By itself, that penny, nickel, dime, or quarter may not be able to do much, but when you combine everyone’s pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters together, AMAZING things happen! A doctor’s research for childhood cancer gets funded, patients receiving treatment at the Jimmy Fund Clinic enjoy activities and visits arranged especially for them. Trips for Jimmy Fund patients to a weekend at Red Sox Spring Training get some financial support. Every single contribution made is important!

If you wish to donate to our Green Monster Wall, you may fill out the form that was sent home and return it to school to my attention, with your donation. Again, no amount is too small. Every penny makes a huge difference to those working at and receiving treatment at Dana-Farber. You may request as many baseballs as you would like. Our goal is to fill that Green Monster and remember, honor, and celebrate our loved ones. Photos up to 4x6” of loved ones are welcome, too!

Also available are Fisher School Excuse Note Pads. These were created by my daughter (proud Mom here!) and donated to us to help raise funds for Fisher’s FInest. They are only $5 each, all of which goes to our Rally. If you want to order one, please click here: Student Excuse Notepad Order and complete the form. As soon as I receive your payment, I’ll send the notepad(s) home with your student. There is no Fisher School information on the notepads, so they work for any school!

Our My Grandma’s Coffee Cake fundraiser has also begun with the flyers and a letter explaining the fundraiser having been sent home earlier this week. Thanks to those who have already sent in an order! Please include your student’s name and teacher to help me in identifying who gets what order. Orders must be returned to school WITH PAYMENT no later than Friday, January 23rd. I have to submit the order on Saturday in order for us to receive it before February vacation. As much as it saddens me to refuse a late order, I do not have any choice this year.

You can also join our team and/or donate directly to our Fisher’s Finest team by visiting here: http://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/goto/fishersfinest2026

Thank you for your continued support - and let’s make 2026, the grand finale, the best year yet!
