Seal of Biliteracy Boot Camp!
for students of French and Spanish 2023
UPDATE: Due to low student enrollment, this event has been cancelled.
We're back! Oakland Schools is hosting the second annual Student Seal of Biliteracy Boot Camp!
Over 50 Spanish students participated in Oakland School's first Seal of Biliteracy Boot Camp in March 2019. Boot Camp offers students an opportunity to participate in a “linguistic obstacle course” that includes real-world tasks to evaluate their language proficiency in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Students get real time feedback on their language performance, have the opportunity to connect with other language learners, and build their confidence to test for the Seal of Bilteracy.
Here's what some past participants had to say:
"I enjoyed the extra practice and received critiques of what I need to work on for the STAMP and AP test."
"I had a great time and found the feedback very beneficial."
"Seal of Biliteracy Boot Camp was fun and informational."
"The conductors were very helpful, and the tasks were fair and reasonable."
"I had a good time using Spanish and receiving good advice and feedback for it."
"The drill conductors were very friendly, and they gave helpful feedback."
"It was really good, and I feel confident about the Spanish IB test I am taking in the spring."
"I loved this program. I'll recommend this to my little sister for next year."
We're excited to be able to offer our second in-person Boot Camp for students of Spanish and French in March 2023 and hope you'll consider participating. Read on for more details about the event!
