Cougar Nation,

Our Cougarette Volleyball is going to STATE!!! They will play Friday, November 19th at 1:00PM. There will be more information coming out this week about ticketing and a possible Student Fan Bus. Congratulations to coaches and players!

Friday, November 19th will be an early release day. Students will be released at 2:30pm and buses will run at this time. This will kick off our Thanksgiving break. We do not have school the week November 22nd - 26th. The next Cougar Connection will be November 28th.

Our annual Pie Patch is almost here! Thursday, November 18th, the CHS PTSA would like to show the CHS staff how thankful we are for all they do for our students by providing them with a pie to take home for Thanksgiving. Please sign up to bring one or more pies at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844a5a929a3fa7-piepatch. We ask that pies be dropped off on 11/18/2021 by 10:30am. Thank you for your generosity!

Coffee with the Principal will be Tuesday, November 16th. Our Academic Dean and Counselor will be present to answer any questions about Advanced Academics and 2022-2023 course registration. Coffee will be provided by PTSA.

Please remind your student to always have their ID on them for security. After 5 temporary IDs, students will be called in for discipline and will be assigned either lunch detention or Thursday night school depending on how many temporary IDs they have accrued.

Below is a link to our Fall Semester Exam Schedule. Per grading guidelines, exams may NOT be taken early. Any exam missed must be made up on January 3rd.

I wanted to remind you of a few things:

  • Our cafeteria doors are open at 7:30 every morning. Students will be sent to class at 8:45.
  • Basic Dress Code: No Hats or Hoods worn in the building. Shirts must cover midriff and straps at least 2 inches wide. Shorts, skirts, and holes in pants must not be above thumb when arm is fully extended towards leg.
  • Parents will NOT be able to drop off food at lunch. Students should either bring their own lunch or can get a free lunch from the cafeteria. Please do not order food and plan to have it delivered to the school. There will be no outside food deliveries from companies such as Uber Eats, Doordash, or Grub Hub.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me anytime at dustin.davisson@comalisd.org.

Birthday Wishes!

We have 5 large TV screens in the school. As a school fundraiser and another way to celebrate your student, we are selling Birthday Wishes on our TVs. For $20 you can send us your student’s name, Birthday and even a picture. We will wish him/her a Happy Birthday all week on our TV monitors. If you’re interested in celebrating or embarrassing your student, please email Lauren.Castilleja@comalisd.org. Please submit requests by Friday afternoon for the following week. Any money collected will be spent back on the student body during this school year.

Turkey Feather Fundraiser Wars

Cougar Nation is raising money to support Canyon students and families in need with a competitive fundraiser November 1-17. Students (and businesses) can buy turkey feathers for 25 cents each to be added to a teacher’s class or club ‘turkey’. The class or club who has the turkey with the most feathers will win the war and earn bragging rights for the year! Please consider sending in your quarters or dollar bills to help us raise fund to provide direct assistance to Cougars in need.

BSU Fundraiser

The CHS Black Student Union is doing its 1st Fundraiser! It’s super easy! Click the link in this email, click the continent of Africa in the flyer, or scan the QR code! Any amount is appreciated from $5-$1000! We are raising funds for our HBCU tours, t-shirts for members, campus events, and community impact projects! Please share with anyone you think can help us raise funds!

We have two HBCU trips planned this year, Huston- Tillotson and Texas Southern University/Prairie View A&M. We would use this fundraiser to help provide support for our students.
