The WellfleetElementary News "Wellfleet's Word to the Wise" March 21, 2024

Dear WES Families,

There has been a steady stream of parents and guardians visiting the school as they check in on the progress of their child. We appreciate the time taken out of your day to be a part of these important conferences. The success of your child is dependent upon the efforts of all of us and we thank you!

Please mark your calendar as the WES Spring Concert and Arts Night is scheduled for Thursday, April 11th at 6:00pm. Students should arrive at the school no later than 5:45 pm and proceed to their classroom. Students should dress in formal attire. At the conclusion of the concert, students will return to their classroom and will be dismissed at that location by a parent/guardian.

There will be more information to follow in the upcoming weeks,

With gratitude,

Principal O'Shea

Eat A Rainbow Week Was A Success!

Our students did a great job last week with Eat A Rainbow Week! On Friday we had our Munchin O' The Green day where all students got to try several different green fruits and vegetables. A special thanks to Mrs. Crosen, Mrs. Gage, Mrs. Nannini, Mrs. Olson, and the whole Peace Pollinator in the Kitchen crew for preparing all of the fruits and veggies! Believe it or not, EVERYTHING was eaten and lots of students came back for seconds and thirds! Some of the foods the students had were:

Honeydew Melon

Green Pears

Apples

Grapes

Arugula

Peppers

Kale & Brussel Sprout Caesar Salad

Cilantro

Limes

The Lawrence Fund

The Lawrence Fund was established in March of 2023 by Ariana Bradford (Staff Member at WES) and Joan Zukas (School Committee member and grandmother to two students at WES). The Fund was established to honor Lawrence Zukas, father to Ariana and husband to Joan. Its’ purpose is to financially support students and their families who may be in need of funds for camps, sports equipment, shoes, coats, boots, musical instruments, school supplies including technology support, etc. Request can be made to Mrs. Ariana Bradford, Mr. Adam O’Shea, Mrs. Claudia Cope or your child’s teacher. No proof of need is asked, The Lawrence Fund is just happy to help. Any additional questions can be answered by Joan Zukas at jzukas123@comcast.net or by phone at (413) 374-7436.

"I'm not on your vacation" 😀

This is just a reminder that we will have a boatload of events coming up and your child's presence is essential to their school success. We will do our best to have events scheduled in a way that does not interfere with your travel plans, however please keep in mind that the priority is to create as much time on learning as possible. We would hate for your child to miss out on any of our upcoming events. Events like:

  • Tech Safety Presentation; April 3rd
  • Incoming Kindergarten Parent Orientation; April 4th
  • Art Night and Spring Concert; April 11th
  • Spring Musical The Jungle Book; April 24 & April 25th
