April 2023
A Message from Mr. Hartman
Greetings! We are now into our final trimester of the school year and before we know it, summer will be knocking on our door. With that being said, you will soon be receiving information about our summer school program. As always, we will offer a number of remediation and enrichment courses for students to take advantage of this coming summer, and we hope you consider enrolling your child.
As I think ahead to this month of April, I am hopeful that students will continue to be excited about coming to school each day, especially with warmer weather on the horizon. As a staff, we continue to meet regularly about student needs, and then make strategic plans to address their needs. In some cases these meetings are about individual students, and in other cases they may pertain to a specific grade level or our student body as a whole. Regardless, our efforts are to ensure that students are getting the most out of their time with us here each and every day.
As we head into the final months of the school year, I continue to be impressed by the perseverance of our staff and students as they take on new challenge. Please encourage your child to continue giving his/her best effort through the last weeks of the school year. As always, if you have questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call us. Thank you for your support, and I hope your spring is off to a great start!

1st Grade Knowledge Fun
The first graders have been enjoying the last two units of CKLA Knowledge! They learned about our solar system and enjoyed becoming astronauts themselves! They are now digging deeper! They are learning about geologists and the history of our earth! The kiddos loved getting outside for some fresh air to make volcanos too!
BES Literacy Night
The Bloomer Elementary School hosted a BES Literacy Night last month! Families were invited to BOUNCE into their love of literacy by participating in activities, games, and of course BOUNCE HOUSES!
The night was a SUPER success, but certainly could not have happened without the support and generosity of the Bloomer community, BES families, and BES Staff!
We would like to send out a BIG THANK YOU to our local donors and volunteers that helped make this event extra memorable for our BES families! Your support and dedication to our public school shines bright and we appreciate you!
Special THANK YOU'S go out to:

Upcoming classroom Guidance lessons in April will continue to be built around the Wisconsin Social Emotional Learning Competencies, specifically centered on the areas of Emotional Development (understanding and manage one’s emotions), Self-Concept (develop positive self-identity and recognize self as a learner) and Social Competence (establish and maintain positive relationships). The next few weeks, we will focus our attention on social awareness. Specifically, students will be reflecting on and identifying similarities and differences among peers and building relationships between diverse groups of people (understanding prejudice, stereotypes, discrimination, etc.). 😊
The Counseling department offers many terrific resources for parents covering a wide range of topics. Some of these resources are available for parents to keep and others are available for checkout. Featured resources this month include: The Self-Confident Child by Jean Yoder, MD, Hearing Is Believing: How Words Can Make Or Break Our Kids by Elisa Medhus, MD and Parents DO Make A Difference: How To Raise Kids With Solid Character, Strong Minds & Caring Hearts by Michele Borba, EdD. Please stop in and take a look!
On April 22, we honor Earth Day. There are several ways communities, classrooms and families will be recognizing this day. We can plant trees, pick up litter, reduce our energy use and much more! A motto commonly heard on Earth Day is, “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!” Let’s reduce television and video game time and increase family together time. Let’s reuse traditions and games from our childhood and teach our kids something new. Let’s recycle trash items, get creative and make a family project together! Happy Earth Day! “The Earth is what we ALL have in common.” ~Wendell Berry 😊
