Sheridan Middle School staff enjoyed grilled burgers and chicken, along with chips, cookies and drinks thanks to First Trust Home Loans, who generously sponsored and grilled!

Members of the Sheridan Board of Education and district administration were in attendance to visit and show their appreciation for the SMS team.

Each month, a different Sheridan School District campus will be treated to lunch, courtesy of First Trust. By the end of the school year, every district employee will have had the chance to enjoy a meal in their honor.

The SMS Student Council is hosting a Valentines Dance on February 20th! Details are below.

This month we are challenging your student to be kind to others, even when it’s hard. We are partnering with you to help your child grow in kindness. Most children learn new behaviors by copying those around them; we have a powerful opportunity and responsibility to teach kindness by example. This month, model kindness and empower your children to show compassion to those around them with these recommended activities that will be featured in upcoming February newsletters - Self-love Letter, Affirmation Boxes, and Intentional Kindness.

EMPOWER: Have each family member make and decorate their own “Affirmation Box” or bag to display in a central location in your home this month. At least three times a week, write a family member an affirmation and place it in their box. On the last day of the month, ask everyone to read their affirmations and feel the love!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Grant County Spelling Bee! First place went to Sheridan Middle School's very own Devin Dunn!

A total of 27 students from 3rd through 8th grades competed in a total of nine rounds until Dunn came out victorious. He will represent Grant County at the Arkansas State Spelling Bee on March 7. Great job, spellers!

The Yellowjacket Jr. High Gymnastics Team continues to dominate the competition! At the meet in Dumas, every podium spot belonged to Yellowjacket gymnasts:

1st: Jaycie Glaze
2nd: Addison Norwood
3rd: Hannah Sims

4th: Joy Parks

5th: Aubrey Whitaker

Our Sheridan Middle School and Sheridan High School teams also faced Camden Fairview and walked away with another sweep—still UNDEFEATED!

1st – Jaycie Glaze
2nd – Holley Burris
3rd – Addison Norwood
4th – Gabi Motes
5th – Ella Baker
