Week 29

Farm Workers Day
Friday, March 27 (No School)
As a District we are aware of the recent, troubling allegations related to Cesar Chavez. We take matters of this nature very seriously. Los Angeles Unified respects the voices and courage of survivors of all forms of violence. The District is reviewing curriculum and resources to ensure the emphasis remains on the important work of the farmworker movement, not on any one individual. It is important to recognize the collective work of thousands who have advanced social justice, labor rights, and community empowerment.
We also encourage you to continue these conversations at home in ways that feel right for your family. Listening to your child's questions and sharing your own values can help them develop a balanced and thoughtful understanding of the world. Treat our day off this Friday as a value-based day, not a personality-based one. Focus on the cause, not just the person.
Turn it into a service day.
- Volunteer together at a food bank or a community garden.
- Get a head start on Spring cleaning and get a donation ready for giving.
- Help a neighbor in a tangible way (pull their weeds, walk their dogs, etc.)

Fundraiser Pick-Up
Wednesday, March 25th
On Wednesday, between 9:00–10:00 a.m., you may stop by the school to pick up your fundraiser orders. If you are unable to pick them up during that time, you may also collect them during after-school pickup. If orders are not picked up then, they will be sent home with your child on Thursday. Please do not leave orders at the school over Spring Break, as your supporters will be eager to receive their items.
For this fundraiser, we raised $1649 for our student body account. Our top seller was Mateo Sandoval, who sold $880 and single-handedly contributed $352 to our total. Great job, everyone, and thank you for your support!
Pick Up Options
- 9:00 am - 10:00 am on Wednesday
- 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm on Wednesday
- Send home with your child on Thursday
Multnomah Store
Wednesday, March 25th
Bring all your money! The Multnomah Store will be open today! Teachers will have a schedule. But don't leave those bucks at home.
Summer School
Multnomah will be hosting Summer School this summer. Registration will be open soon, but if you are at all interested, please sign up as soon as registration opens. IT IS NOT OPEN TO STUDENTS YET. Last year we had quite a few students interested but wait-listed because they signed up late.
Summer School will be from June 22nd - July 20th.
Hours are tentatively 8:30 am - 12:20 pm with Beyond the Bell care from 12:20 pm - 6:00 pm.
Both programs require separate applications. Below is the information directly from the district website.
Transitional Kindergarten—7th Grade
The TK-7th Summer School program will be offered in person and is designed to support core instruction, provide targeted academic intervention in a small group setting, as well as in-person enrichment activities in the Arts and Sciences at all participating TK-7th summer school sites.
- Eligibility: Current Los Angeles Unified students with District ID number in grades TK-7th
- Program Dates: June 22 – July 20, 2026
- Program Times: 8:30 am - 12:20 pm
- Learning Method: In-person
- How to Apply: Visit enroll.lausd.net
2026-2027 Enrollment
We are currently accepting permit request forms. If you do not live within our residential boundaries, you must first obtain a release from your resident school and provide one of the district-approved reasons for the permit request.
Please note that permit requests will not be reviewed at this time. They will be time-stamped and collected for review in late April, as priority must first be given to students who live within our residential boundaries.
If you live within our boundaries and have new students to enroll, enrollment packets will be available starting April 1st.
Magnet Alert
Deadline April 10th
Please log in to the portal to check your application status.
If you have been waitlisted: No action is required at this time.
If you have been selected: You must log in and accept or decline the offer.
Accepting the offer means you agree to move your child from their current program to the magnet program for which you applied and were selected. After accepting the offer in the portal, please come to the school office to pick up a modified enrollment packet for the 2026–2027 school year. Once the packet is completed and returned, your enrollment process will be finished.
If you applied but are no longer interested, please decline the offer in the portal so that a student on the waitlist may have the opportunity to enroll.
If you do nothing by the deadline of April 10th, you will automatically be dropped.
Oreo Debate
The verdict is in. Did you ask your child which Oreo they preferred? It was a close call but it seems the classic flavor is still the favorite. (1 class missed their library time.) Counting the votes took a while. Ask your child. What might have been a more efficient way to collect this data?
Science Fair
Thank you to everyone who participated in and/or attended our science fair. A special thank you to Ms. Perez, Mrs. Quezada, Mrs. Ortega, and Mrs. Quiñones for taking the lead!
We also appreciate all the parents for supporting their children throughout this journey. It was wonderful to see the pride beaming from our students, and many shared how meaningful the bonding experience was.
If you did not participate this year, it’s not too early to start thinking about your project for next year.
Easter Egg Hunt
Thursday, March 26th
Thank you all for the pre-filled egg donation. Feel free to send students with an Easter basket on Thursday for the hunt. If they do not have one. We will give them a bag.
Teachers will take them outside at their scheduled time. If you are available to help either to hide eggs or dress up as our Easter Bunny, please let Ms. Dana know. We have the costume. 🐰🐇 We will need you by 8:05 am so we can hide the eggs 🪺 as soon as students go to class.
Spotlight and Slices
5th Grade ONLY
Calling all 5th graders interested in participating in Spotlight and Slices! We will have a special talent show for you to showcase a song, dance, skit, for your peers and parents. If you are interested in participating, start practicing now.
