March 2026

March is the time to be intentional, strategic, and focused as we prepare students to confidently show what they know. Through purposeful use of educational technology, we can create structured STAAR practice opportunities that strengthen critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving while building student confidence along the way. Check out the ideas in this newsletter to support your test prep game plan and finish strong. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Technology In Action
Students at Conroe High 9th are utilizing Canva Image Generators to learn their vocabulary words by making movie posters.
Students in Mr. Kreiger's 6th grade Social Studies class at Collins Intermediate researched a country, made a video in Adobe Express about their country and then pinned their video on a Padlet map. Talk about major app smashing! Click the image below to see the Padlet and videos in action. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Natalie Davis at Travis Elementary is working with 6th grade students as they are learning about East Asia and how to use Adobe Express to summarize their learning.
STAAR Embedded Supports
STAAR Embedded Supports & Tools Practice gives students intentional opportunities to become familiar with the digital tools available during STAAR, helping reduce test-day uncertainty. By practicing with these supports in advance, students can focus more on demonstrating their learning and less on navigating the platform. Check out the 30 minute lesson below. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Short-Constructed Responses
Using New Quizzes in Canvas with LockDown Browser gives students structured short constructed response practice in a secure, distraction-free environment that mirrors STAAR testing conditions.
Teachers can align prompts to priority TEKS and provide targeted feedback in Canvas, helping students strengthen written reasoning and build confidence before test day.
Check out the Knowledge Base article for more information.
Canvas Teacher and Student Feedback
We are always looking for ways to improve Conroe ISD’s approved digital instructional resources, including Canvas. As part of this process, we are intentionally collecting feedback from both teachers and students through surveys and campus conversations to better understand daily use, instructional impact, and areas of need.
We’ve created a short Canvas feedback survey for both teachers and students. Your responses will help us understand how Canvas is being used, celebrate what’s going well, and guide improvements and support where it’s needed most.
We would greatly appreciate you completing the Teacher Canvas Feedback Survey and sharing the Student Canvas Feedback Form with your students before March 27. Your input will help us strengthen Canvas implementation and better support teaching and learning across our campuses.

Learning.com
Did you know that Learning.com has a built in typing program for grades 3-8?
Learning.com's Adaptive Keyboarding personalizes typing instruction based on each student’s skill level, automatically adjusting lessons to target areas of need. This individualized practice helps students build speed, accuracy, and confidence.
Students will access their Adaptive Keyboarding activities by clicking into the Arcade at the top left of their pathway screen.
It is recommended that students spend 10-15 minutes of practice, 2-3 times a week to develop typing proficiency. This time is in addition to the time spent completing the assigned pathway.
Canva for Education
Canva makes it easy for teachers to design engaging lessons, visuals, and student resources—everything from slides and worksheets to videos, choice boards, and feedback tools—all in one place. With built-in templates and classroom-ready features, teachers can save time while elevating instruction. The AI in the Classroom course helps educators take this even further by showing how Canva’s AI tools can support planning, differentiation, creativity, and feedback—empowering teachers to work smarter, spark student engagement, and use AI thoughtfully and responsibly in everyday classroom practice.
The couse is beginner fiendly, 8 lessons long, will take approximately 73 minutes and is online at your own pace.
