Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair Content Available
Each year tens of millions of students participate in science fairs around the globe but only about 1,800 earn the right to compete for nearly $5 million awards bestowed each May at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
Due to COVID-19, the Society for Science & the Public and Regeneron – together with its global science fair network and the larger STEM community –celebrated science and engineering through an incredible series of virtual events that took place May 18-22. They are offering free access to this extraordinary content through June 5.
- Learn from Nobel Laureates and scientists on the forefront of coronavirus research.
- Hear from science, engineering and tech entrepreneurs.
- Learn about colleges and universities interested in sharing their campuses with you virtually.

Creating Climate Champions
Please respond to this survey about teaching climate by May 31, 2020, and you’ll have a chance to win a $100 VISA gift card. We also seek teachers to help lead this work—please read on.
We know our Earth’s climate is changing; the evidence is overwhelming. Current events and predictive models show that we need swift action to prevent extreme and irreversible climate disruption.
Our team at UC San Diego wants to understand teachers’ needs and interests, challenges and opportunities in teaching about climate across multiple subjects. We’re working with a statewide coalition to support teachers to educate all California students to understand the climate crisis and climate solutions. (More information attached or download here.)
A new regional initiative—Creating Climate Champions—seeks K-12 teacher leaders to collaboratively curate and create climate curriculum. Each will receive an honorarium of $2500 for ~50 hours of work, beginning during summer 2020. If you're interested in this opportunity, please respond to the survey and answer the question about the interests, knowledge, and/or expertise you will bring to this effort.
If you have questions or comments, please contact Nan Renner at nrenner@ucsd.edu.
Master Gardener Stay-AT-Home website
The UCCE Master Gardener Program of San Diego County would like to offer this free, non-commercial resource to the San Diego Unified School District. We understand that it is not curriculum material but we hope that when communicating with parents and staff struggling to find appropriate, suitable material to use at home with their families this might be made available as an additional resource.
