Blazer Bulletin for Jan 16-19

Dear Trail Blazer Community
I hope that you were able to stay warm this weekend and you are in good health. As we go through this week, please encourage your students to dress appropriately for the weather so that they are prepared in case of emergencies or fire drills.
This week we will be adjusting our normal morning routine so that we can open doors to students at 8:00. We are hoping that this will offer some more flexibility for parents who need to drop students off earlier and at the same time keep our students safe and out of the extreme cold. Once students enter the building, they will be expected to report to the cafeteria and remain there until 8:20.

Furthermore, class rank and GPA are only provided on the FISD student transcript, any GPA/Rank information on these 3rd party apps will be incorrect.

Public Education is ALWAYS on the ballot, especially during the primaries. The Texas legislature determines public school funding, and this last session, they were unable to approve a sustainable raise for teachers because school funding was tied to controversial voucher legislation.
Many of the seats up for election in Texas do not have competitive races during the November general election, so the March primaries are extremely important. The deadline to register is February 5, and early voting begins February 20. Texas is an open-primary state, meaning voters can decide every two years which primary to vote in. Note that whichever primary a person decides to vote in, they can vote only in that same party’s runoff if there is one. They can, however, vote for either party's candidates in the general election in November. This Voter Registration Drive is open to the Public.

Course Registration for 2024-2025 School Year
Please see email from FISD Communications regarding February 19, 2024 deadline for course request changes: [sent on 12/19 from communications@friscoisd.org]
Frisco ISD families,
As you know, we are in the middle of the course selection process for the 2024-25 school year.
The latest: Middle and high school course requests will be accepted until Feb. 19, 2024.
After Feb. 19, only changes for programs or any application/audition-based courses will be allowed. The process for submitting any allowed course request changes (per the middle and high school academic guide) will be communicated by each campus at a later date.
Context: FISD wants to have the correct staff in place for the courses students have selected.
In the past, students have been able to make changes through April.
The late changes created and dissolved class sections, wreaking havoc on the campus hiring process and master schedule.
Dig deeper: Explore FISD course offerings.
Watch a video to learn how to explore the course catalog.
Explore the Student Opportunity Model and how it differentiates FISD from neighboring districts.
Watch the campus newsletter for information from counselors regarding course selection activities and meetings scheduled for students and parents. As always, your campus counselor is ready to support you in selecting courses that meet your students' needs.
Increased Consequences for Leaving Campus
Please note that Lebanon Trail remains a closed campus and students who leave campus during the day will now receive a Thursday Night Detention. Multiple offenses could result in tiered consequences, including ISS and Parent Conference. Please speak with your students about the importance of remaining on campus during school hours.
