Update on 8th grade Promotion Ceremony
8th grade ICAP
8th Grade Parents: Your student(s) recently completed their Individual Career and Academic
Plan (ICAP). An ICAP is a plan of study to guide students through the coursework and activities for achieving personal career goals, post-secondary planning and providing individual pathway options. An ICAP is a multi-year process, beginning no later than the eighth grade, that intentionally guides students and families in the exploration of career, academic and multiple post-secondary opportunities. An ICAP is a “roadmap” to help students develop the awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and skills to create their own meaningful pathways to be success ready graduates (dese.mo.gov).
The Counseling Department worked with the Social Studies teachers to reach every 8th grade
student. The 8th grade ICAP portion is completed on the left side to include their career
pathway, postsecondary goals, and post secondary path. You may view your student’s ICAP
plan through the parent portal. To access your child’s ICAP follow these directions:
● Login to Tyler SIS parent portal
● Click on documents on the left side of of the screen
● You may see other registration documents but scroll to view the ICAP
If you have any questions Sarah Bodi, 8th grade Counselor can be reached at 314-918-4555 or

Hixson PTO Update
Volunteers Needed!
The Hixson PTO is looking for volunteers for next school year. Please email if you are interested in serving on the executive board or on a committee: hixsonmiddlepto@gmail.com.
Assorted lumber, Cricut supplies, sewing machines, KitchenAid Mixers, iPad Minis . . .these are a sampling of supplies needed by Hixson teachers, and the Hixson PTO is organizing a collection of these supplies. Does your business have items to donate or sell at reduced cost? Do you have items at home that you don't need anymore? Does your child enjoy FACS/Sustainability and you want to make a special donation of a new sewing machine or chicken food so other students can enjoy these classes as much as your student does?
Please follow these steps:
1. Review the following Google Sheets to see the list of items needed. There are items big and small - ranging from used aluminum cans to new countertops.
2. Enter your name and comments in the far right column (for items with multiple quantities, more than one person can write their name).
3. Contact the teacher BEFORE you make any large purchases.
