Thank you for the opportunity to serve the children, families and taxpayers of the Upper Darby School District. As part of the School Board communication plan, the Board sends monthly updates to the school community. The information included in these briefs is not intended to be complete and does not replace official Board minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Also, the Board meetings are livestreamed and available on our YouTube Channel. We welcome you to follow the issues the School Board is considering and to attend meetings to stay informed.

UDSD Parent Information Night


Please join us on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. to learn more about the District’s partnership with Lakeside Neurologic and for an overview of the brain regions and brain states. Also get practical takeaways that pertain to the three Rs (Regulate, Relate and Reason) that you can use with your family right away - useful strategies to bring your family together during times of stress. Reopening of Schools Update - Beginning April 19th


  • Elementary Schools - Current half-day schedule will remain due to cafeteria spacing restrictions.

  • Middle Schools - Monday/Tuesday cohorts will be combined, and Thursday/Friday cohorts will be combined, providing students with two (2) full days of in-person instruction.

  • High School - Students who have been attending in-person instruction will be able to attend five (5) days a week.

  • More information can be found in the Reopening of Schools Brochure.

PSSA Testing - Grades 3-8

The adjusted testing window is based on the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) guidance released in early March. This testing is federally mandated.


  • Grades 3-8 will have testing May 3-5 (English Language Arts) and May 10-11 (Math).

  • Grades 4 and 8 will also have science testing May 13-14.


Information regarding the opt-out procedures was reviewed for parents and guardians and is available on BoardDocs.

New School Director Appointed at the Special Meeting on 3/23/21 - Debra Williams

The board voted unanimously to appoint Debra Williams to fill the vacancy on the board. Ms. Williams has extensive experience as a volunteer for our Home and School Association and has worked in education for many years.

Beverly Hills Middle School Construction Update

Construction bids have been approved for toilet room renovations. Half of all of the toilet rooms at BHMS will be completed this summer. The second half will be completed the summer of 2022.
