Erin's Law
Many states, including Illinois, have passed a law with the intent of increasing the awareness of child sexual abuse. You may have heard of this legislation under its more common name, Erin's Law, in honor of Erin Merryn, a young woman who has traveled across the country advocating for laws that will increase awareness of this crime against children. One of the requirements of this law is that schools provide an age appropriate curriculum to all students relating to sexual abuse prevention. The purpose of the lessons is to provide students with the tools they need for personal safety and to help them build confidence in advocating for themselves.
Developmentally appropriate lessons will be conducted with Roslyn Road students beginning on May 11-15th. The lessons will be taught by our social workers and school psychologist. Your child's teacher will also be present during this presentation.
If you would like to have your child opt out of this experience, please notify your child's classroom teacher and Mr. Kirk by TODAY, MAY 6.

5th Grade Service Project - Annual Food Drive Rally coming up!
The 5th grade service project will wrap up for the year with the annual food drive. As we have done for many years, we will be collecting donations for the Cuba Township Food Pantry. This year we're also collecting outgrown spirit wear. Drop boxes will be available inside the school near the front office. For your convenience, 5th grade volunteers will be available to accept curbside donations directly from your vehicle in the morning drop off line. The food drive rally is next week -- Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15. Our 5th graders have made a real impact this year - let's support them in making this a record year for donations to the food pantry! Please see the wish list for more details.

STEM Club at Roslyn Road
Our first after-school STEM club was a huge success! This session’s theme was “LEGO Masters,” and students had an incredible time exploring creativity, engineering, teamwork, and design through hand-on LEGO STEM challenges.
A special highlight of the club was a visit from Barrington alum and mechanical engineer Luke Horwath, who many may recognize from Season 5 of LEGO Masters, where he competed as part of a mother-son team. Luke shared insights about engineering, creativity, collaboration, and his experience on the show, inspiring students to think like designers and innovators.
We are so grateful to Luke for taking the time to connect with our students and help make our first STEM Club experience such a memorable one!
