PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, May 29th
It was so wonderful to be treated to a performance by our 5th Grade band students on Monday morning - it really set the mood for the week and it was so wonderful to be able to celebrate our 5th graders musical achievements and talents. District 25 Band is a wonderful program, and there is more information below for any rising 5th graders who may be interested.
I can't believe we have just 4 school days left! They are sure to fly by and will be filled with many special activities like field trips, field day, a Cultural Arts Assembly, an Awards Assembly, and Kona Ice! We have so much to look forward to in our final week of school. I hope you all have a relaxing weekend and enjoy the calm before the (super fun) storm!
Thanks!
Ellie Chin
IMPORTANT: END OF YEAR MEDICATION PICKUP (FINAL POST!)
As we wrap up another school year, all medications and supplies MUST be picked up from the health office by the end of the school day on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
If you have medication in the health office, you will receive an email from the school nurse with detailed instructions regarding pick up.
We do NOT store any medications over the summer. Any medication remaining after June 4, 2026 will be properly disposed of in accordance with Food and Drug Administration Safe Disposal of Medications guidance at the Arlington Heights Police Department.
For any questions, please contact our nurse, Mrs Sarah Klancnik.
FIELD DAY - TUES, JUNE 2nd (FINAL POST!)
A few important reminders to help your child prepare for the day:
Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for outdoor activities
Bring a hat if desired for sun protection
Apply sunscreen at home before school
Bring a refillable water bottle—there will be a water station available, but extra hydration is encouraged
Students will participate in two water relay events and may get wet. If your child is uncomfortable about being wet, feel free to pack a change of clothes.
As you arrive, you’ll notice equipment set up across the field in preparation for Field Day. Please remind your child not to touch any of the items. Thank you for your help!
Volunteer For Field Day!
Field Day will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd, from 9am-12pm. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844A5A62AA13-63973749-patton
Friendly reminder - this is for current Patton students. Volunteers are asked not to bring younger siblings to the event. Please also be prepared to help run a station, hand out water, help get students from one event to the other, and support our teachers! We really value everyone who signs up for this event, so please come prepared to work! :)
Please note: Only parents who are volunteering should be present at Field Day. We appreciate your understanding that while you are a familiar adult to your child and their friends, you are not a familiar adult to all students or to all other parent volunteers. Field Day Volunteers will be identifiable through their name badges and common wristbands. These are prepared in advance for all parents who sign up to volunteer through the Sign Up Genius. We welcome and appreciate your participation as a volunteer, but ask that you refrain from just stopping by to watch.
FIELD DAY POPSICLE INFORMATION (FINAL POST!)
To help keep our Panthers cool, our PTA are providing popsicles at our Field Day on Tuesday, June 2nd. Please see the information below for ingredients. If you do NOT want your child to have a popsicle, please let their teacher know!
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL LINE UP INFORMATION (FINAL POST!)
To start the day off right on the last day of school (Thursday, June 4th) we would like to have all of our panthers line up with their class outdoors on the blacktop. This will be a great opportunity for some fun last day photos with friends and teachers. Staff will be outside from 8:50am to greet students for the final time this school year.
We encourage any families that plan to stay to take pictures to walk or bike as parking is a challenge. For those of you who will be driving, please do not park in the Patton parking lot - please park on the surrounding streets and be mindful of the No Parking signage to be courteous to our neighbors.
We can’t wait to celebrate our last day and hope to see many of you there!
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM UPDATE (NEW POST!)
Thank you to everyone who joined Dr. Brian Kaye, Superintendent, and Mrs. Diane Kaffka, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, for the presentation of the Instructional Program. The overview included information about the district-wide program, our implementation plans for Patton Elementary School, and how our students and staff will be supported. We look forward to this exciting addition to our school community. Please click on the attached pdf to see the presentation.
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION ON TUES., JUNE 2nd (NEW POST!)
Every year, on Field Day, our staff like to show our appreciation to all those who volunteer throughout the year by organizing a fun "grab and go" snack bar during the Field Day festivities.
If you have volunteered at all throughout the year, through traffic team, library helper, mystery reader, field day, musical, or for any other event please feel free to stop by the snack bar and grab a treat "to go".
We are so grateful for all the time our families give us and the helping hands they offer. This is just our little way of saying an enormous THANK YOU! We are grateful for the ongoing partnership!
FUTURE BAND OPPORTUNITIES AT PATTON (NEW POST!)
This week, the whole school enjoyed a concert by the Patton Beginning Band! Students in D25 begin their band experience in fifth grade. There are many instruments from which students may choose. There is no requirement for previous musical experience for most instruments, but if a student wishes to learn percussion (drums, mallets, bells, etc.), there is a requirement that the student must first have 2 years of formal piano or drum lessons. More information about this and all the instruments offered in fifth grade and beyond may be found here: Elementary Band Information
KONA ICE - LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: THURS., JUNE 4th (NEW POST!)
On the last day of school, Thursday, June 4th, our wonderful PTA is very kindly sponsoring a visit from the Kona Ice truck!
This is always such a fun way to start the last day of school and we are always so grateful to our PTA for organizing this for our students.
Ingredients and nutritional information can be found HERE. If you do not want your child to participate, please let their teacher know.
SUMMER READING! (NEW POST!)
Patton Panthers here is a list of some cool reads to keep you reading this summer.
Also, AHML would like to promote their summer reading program. Check it out HERE!
D25 K-2nd grade book slideshow
D25 3rd-5th grade book slideshow
As you read your books this summer, snap a picture of you and the rubber duck you got from the LMC! You and your duck could be reading next to a pool, a waterfall, a rollercoaster or just chilling at home! We can't wait to see all the places the rubber ducks will go (and the amazing books you're reading!) this summer!
Share your photos with shemmer@sd25.org!
THOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL - 5th GRADE MIXER POOL PARTY (NEW POST!)
The PTA needs volunteers for the upcoming pool party which is being held at The River Trails Pool 1500 E. Euclid Ave. Mt. Prospect on Saturday, August 22nd at 7pm. This is such an exciting event for our incoming students to meet new friends, build connections, and kick off the school year together.
Lifeguards will be on site throughout the event, but we do need parent volunteers to help support check in, supervision, and overall event flow to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. In order to safely host the pool party, we need at least one volunteer for every 10 kids attending. If we do not have enough volunteers committed ahead of time, we may unfortunately have to limit attendance. Volunteers would mainly be helping supervise the event, assist with snacks and crafts, and help everything run smoothly throughout the evening.
Thank you for helping make this a fun and memorable night for our kids!
PETS AT PICKUP AND DROP-OFF (2nd POST!)
If you are dropping off or picking up through the car line and must bring your dog with you, we ask that you please make sure your dog is secured when the door is opened, so your dog does not exit the vehicle. We appreciate your understanding that we have students with allergies and some students who are afraid of unfamiliar dogs. It is helpful for all traffic volunteers and staff who are helping students enter and exit vehicles if everyone's dogs are kept a reasonable distance from the door.
LOST & FOUND (FINAL POST!)
115 items of clothing, 12 water bottles, 10 hats, 15 pairs of gloves...and a partridge in a pear tree!!! Believe it or not, that's how many items we currently have in our Lost and Found! We were able to reunite 3 labeled items with their owners.
All items will be outside at drop off and pickup for the next couple of weeks so please take some time to come and have a look or remind your students to come and have a look during the day (we can't promise that it will always look as immaculate as these photos though!) 😃
