58 total referrals, 32 minors, 26 majors.
Classroom referrals are the highest location for the month followed by playground.
Many areas of the building are seeing fewer behaviors requiring a referral which is a positive note.
Keeping hands to self and showing respect are areas that we continue to work on.
Our December data shows us that there were 58 total referrals, a decrease from November. Of the 58 referrals, there were 32 minors and 26 majors. Classroom referrals are the highest location for the month followed by the playground. A positive is that many areas of the building are seeing few behaviors requiring a referral. Keeping hands to self and showing respect are areas that we continue to work on.
Our staff and students will be revisiting and practicing our Bulldog Blueprints lessons for these areas and we continue to work with our students on keeping their hands to themselves, especially when playing with peers at recess.
Attendance
Punctuality and regular attendance are essential skills that children need to learn at an early age to prepare for lifelong career opportunities. Demonstrate to your children that school is important by supporting the effort to have your child(ren) arrive on time each school day. Consistent attendance and punctuality are critical to each child’s maximum learning experience.
If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email Elementaryattendance@mv.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for being absent.
Please see our Attendance Letter attached below.
PTO
Our PTO board is looking for members to join the group. The next PTO Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 6:30 p.m. at Grandview Elementary.
If you interested in being a part of the PTO, please email. Gvimpto@gmail.com .
Winter Weather
We ask that all students are sent to school with proper winter wear each day. Please review our weather conditions for outdoor recess below.
Weather Conditions
Students will play outdoors when:
Temperatures are above 25℉ with consideration given to wind chill factor (www.weather.com)
There is light precipitation (e.g. snow flurries, drizzle)
Snow is on the ground, depending upon how different play areas are affected
Playground/Field Conditions
Students will be permitted to use playground equipment, fields, and asphalt play areas when conditions are suitable for safe play. Safety considerations included:
Equipment that is dry and ice free
Fields that are not muddy or icy and asphalt play areas that are not icy
Snow that is not deep enough to inhibit students walking/running
Acadience Testing
This month, our students will be taking the second round of our Acadience Testing. This data will allow our Data Team and our teachers to best support students with their reading skills.
We are looking forward to seeing the growth of our students from the beginning of the year!
This Month in Classroom Champions is all about Perseverance
January is all about Perseverance in Classroom Champions! This month, Christian will teach students that perseverance is a life skill that can be best developed through having a growth mindset -- which underscores the notion of grit and resilience, all of which is fundamental to setting and achieving big goals whether on the field, in the classroom, or out in life.
Our January Citizen of the Month focus will be on those student's who show perseverance this month!
