LINCOLN LANCERS
October Edition
Welcome to Our Monthly School Update
Dear LANCER Families,
Welcome to the first LMS newsletter of the year! We are thrilled to have our students back and eager to embark on another year of learning, growth, and community. In this newsletter, you’ll find important updates, student of the month recipients, and announcements about LMS happenings. We also highlight the extracurricular activities available for students, offering numerous opportunities to explore interests and develop new skills.
Let's start off with our LMS Character of the Month: RESPECT.
Character Dares this month include:
- Have a conversation today where you truly listen. Don’t interrupt, put away distractions, and show the person you value their words.
- If you disagree with someone, respond with kindness. Instead of arguing, use respectful words like, “I see your point” or “That’s interesting—here’s my perspective.”
- Show respect for your teachers by following directions the first time, saying “thank you,” and making their job easier today.
- Respect personal space by asking before borrowing, knocking before entering, and honoring people’s boundaries with kindness.
NEED HELP WITH ASSIGNMENTS???
- Our Homework HELP Lab with Mr. Hagan is open every morning at 8:15 am-9:00 am.
CONGRATS to our September Student of the Month recipients for their KINDNESS!!

OCTOBER IS DISABILITY AWARENESS MONTH
Welcome, We are Glad You Are Here....
Every October, our school takes time to learn more about disabilities — what they are, how they affect people, and, most importantly, how we can be kind, inclusive, and caring to everyone, regardless of differences. This month is a chance to help children understand that everyone has strengths and challenges, and that those differences make our community richer.
What is disability?
A disability is any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions).
There are many types of disabilities, such as those that affect a person's:
- Vision
- Movement
- Thinking
- Remembering
- Learning
- Communicating
- Hearing
- Mental health
- Social relationships
Although "people with disabilities" sometimes refers to a single population, this is actually a diverse group of people with a wide range of needs. Two people with the same type of disability can be affected in very different ways. Some disabilities may be hidden or not easy to see.
