A Note From Mrs. McClure

As we head into fall break, I want to celebrate what an incredible start we’ve had to our school year! Our students are growing, learning, and achieving so much already—and the sense of community in our school just keeps getting stronger.

This season is the perfect time to spotlight gratitude. In our classrooms, we’re talking about kindness, respect, and noticing the good in others—simple actions that make our school a supportive, encouraging place for every student.

I encourage you to bring this spirit of gratitude into conversations at home. Ask your child what they’re thankful for, how they can show appreciation, or how they can brighten someone’s day. Small moments of kindness truly add up.

Thank you for being such a strong partner in your child’s education and in our amazing school community. Wishing you a restful, joyful, and well-deserved fall break!

Mrs. Morrison's Classroom

Mrs. Morrison’s class has been learning about Native Americans and how they used to live. We have made leather bracelets and fry bread. It has been a lot of fun!

Kindergarten Miss Wampler

Kindergarten has been hard at work in November! We are learning about 2-dimensional shapes by building them, drawing them and eating them for snack. We have been working hard at writing a sentence in our journal and love sharing our work! In reading we are working on sounding out and writing cvc words. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Break!

2nd Grade Mrs. Meyers

This month the second graders worked hard and learned so much! In math, we practiced adding and subtracting with regrouping and strengthened our basic facts within 20. During reading, students enjoyed stories that showed different ways people can solve disagreements while also sharpening their phonics skills. In science, we explored erosion and discovered how it shapes Earth’s surface. We also celebrated Veterans Day with our Veterans Day showcase. They did a wonderful job honoring those who have served. We’re so proud of all their growth and enthusiasm this month!

3rd Grade Ms. Rice

Math
Our class continues to strengthen addition and subtraction fluency, and students have made wonderful progress. We also began building fluency in multiplication and division. While students are already familiar with fact families, we will dive deeper after break into what division truly means and how it connects to multiplication. Practicing basic facts at home is a great way to support your child’s confidence and success.

Reading
In our current module, students are exploring important U.S. documents and symbols through a variety of texts, videos, and media. As they build vocabulary and background knowledge, they are learning how these symbols represent our nation’s values. With a focus on nonfiction, students are practicing skills such as identifying central ideas, recognizing text structures, and analyzing media techniques—all of which help them better understand new and complex texts.

Social Studies & Science
We recently wrapped up our geography unit and completed our classroom maps. More information about upcoming projects— including a family project connected to our current module—will be shared soon.

4th Grade Mr. Meyers

Fourth grade has been working hard this last month! They learned basic multiplication and division and how to apply them to multi-step word problems, shape and number patterns, and identifying multiples and factors in math. Earlier this month the class earned their root beer float reward for successfully completing their i-ready lessons. In reading, they read about many different heroes and heroic feats. They got to think like a raccoon in science and make decisions as if they were a raccoon. We’ve also been joining 1st grade once a week and reading with them. This year is just zooming by! Hope you all have a great break.

5th Grade Mrs. Corza-Godinez

This month in 5th grade we have been tackling many challenges. In math, we solidified our skills with powers of 10 and understanding exponents. Students worked on multiplying and dividing decimals by powers of 10. In addition to this, we learned how to read and write decimals in standard, word and expanded notation. In reading we are wrapping up our lesson on natural disasters and how we can be safer when we learn about them. We practiced using text structure to inform us about the author's purpose and how different media techniques (video, pictures, personal accounts) can extend our understanding of a topic. In social studies and writing, students are wrapping up their persuasive essays about a country they created and explaining how geography influences the lives of their community. I am looking forward to the work we do in our last few weeks before the holidays!
