Morning Drop Off
We ask that students are not dropped off before 7:20am as there is no active supervision before that time.
Breakfast is available for free to all students starting at 7:20am in the cafeteria. Students walking, getting dropped off, or riding the bus are to enter the cafeteria through the exterior cafeteria doors if they would like breakfast.
Students not eating breakfast will enter the main entrance doors starting at 7:40am.
Early Pick Up Policy
Our school day ends at 2:40pm. All dismissal arrangements/changes and pickups must be made by 2:20pm. After 2:20pm parents/guardians will have to wait until students are released at the bell for security and safety purposes.
Cell Phone Policy
All wireless communication devices (including, but not limited to, smart phones, cell phones, airpods, tablets, and smart watches) must be turned off or locked in the student's locker during class time.
To be clear, research shows there is no educational, social, or emotional benefit to a student having a cell phone or headphones/earbuds/etc. in our building. It only serves as a distraction or catalyst to inappropriate behavior.
Certain allowances are made for medical reasons, but those must be coordinated with administration.
Students that violate the no cell phone policy during class time will receive progressive discipline which includes:
First Offense: Tracked warning
Second Offense: Phone brought down to the office by student or behavior coach, parent communication, student picks up phone at end of day.
Third Offense: Phone brought down to the office by student or behavior coach, parent communication, parent pickup.
Fourth Offense: Phone brought down to the office by student or behavior coach, parent communication, parent pickup, and cell phone “detention” (student brings phone to office every day and pickup at end of day for a predetermined amount of time).
Fifth Offense: May result in ISS/OSS. Any beyond five offenses will result in progressive discipline.
If you need to reach your student during the school day you must reach out to the front office.
Medication and Sports Physicals
All students participating in athletics MUST HAVE A MHSAA ATHLETIC FORM TURNED IN to the Counseling Office or Athletic Director BEFORE THE FIRST PRACTICE OR TRYOUT (whichever is first). Physical forms may be picked up in the main office or HERE is the digital form. Eligible physicals must be dated April 15th, 2026 or earlier.
If your child has any medical needs during the school day, please bring the necessary documentation to the main office. This includes inhalers. Any medication to be kept in the office must be brought in by a parent or guardian. Click HERE to access the necessary forms we will need on file prior to the start of school.
It is the WWCSD district policy that NO prescribed or over-the-counter medication can be in school without WWCSD medication forms signed by a doctor and parent. If the form turned in is for "self carry" orders, the student may keep the medication with them. If it is not a "self carry" order, only parents or their listed contacts may bring in the medication which will be kept in the main office. Blank medication forms can be picked up if needed in the main office during the school year.
Corewell Health @ Adams Middle School can provide your student with a physical, immunizations, and more. See the graphic below for more information!
Notice for Families During Drop Off & Pick Up
Franklin families, it is dark in the mornings and it will only get darker. Please drive slowly and carefully through our parking lot for the safety of our students. In addition, in the morning we have designated areas for parking to drop your student off. Please see the information below:
When in the roundabout, you must continue moving. You cannot park here.
This area is for the Special Education busses. You cannot park or idle here.
Walking students utilize this crosswalk. Please be extra careful when driving.
Transportation Reminders
Bussers
Please note students are expected to load their bus immediately at the dismissal bell. Dismissal is at 2:40pm and buses depart at 2:47pm. Buses will not return to the school for students that missed the bus. Students will need to come to the main office to contact their parent/guardian to be picked up.
Parent/Guardian Pick Up
Students that are picked up from school are not allowed to wait in the building. They are dismissed outside with all other students. Students will need to be picked up in a timely matter as afterschool supervision is not provided for late pick ups.
Walkers
Students that walk home need to leave the premises immediately after dismissal. Reentry into the building is not allowed and students are not to hang out on school property or at the surrounding businesses.
Requests to Ride Home with Another Student
If a family requests that their child ride home with another student, the request must first be approved. Please provide our staff with a letter stating the name of your student, the date you'd like your student to ride with another, the name of the other student, and your signature for approval. Our staff will also require a letter from the other student's home confirming they are prepared to receive your student off the bus. As we will need to also communicate with our transportation department, please give at least 48 hours notice.
Outside Food Policy
The state of Michigan guarantees free lunches for students. Outside food deliveries such as Door Dash and Grub Hub is not permitted. Please do not send food directly from delivering companies to the school. If you bring fast food to the school for students they should be signed out for lunch and signed back in. We cannot allow fast food in the lunchroom due to allergies and safety. We also cannot allow parents to bring fast food to the school for friends.
