Hello from Principal Guditus

Hello Eddy Families,

We are in the home stretch of the school year! We have nine school days left until the last day of school: a full day on Friday, June 26. A reminder that there is no school this Friday, June 19, 2026 in honor of Juneteenth.

We've had a terrific two week of field trips, with grade 5 in Boston at the Museum of Science, grades 3 and 4 sailing on Pleasant Bay, visiting Crosby Beach, visiting the Cape Cod Canal visitors center, grades 4 and 5 visiting their kindergarten and 1st grade buddies at Stony Brook, and lots of learning going on both inside and outside of the building. A big thank you to the Brewster PTO for their financial support for these field trips! Teachers are creatively providing engaging learning opportunities for our students now and over the next two weeks of school.

We will continue our outdoor vegetable garden work the next two weeks, and then over the summer, will be looking for a few good volunteers (adults and kids) who are interested in periodically helping out our vegetable garden by weeding, harvesting, and watering. It is super flexible on hours, a very small commitment, and if you cannot make it one week, that's ok: we still would love your help! Please email me if you would like to assist in some form or fashion in the outdoor garden this summer.

A reminder that our fifth graders have their fifth grade social this Thursday, June 18, from 5-7pm in the Eddy gym and cafeteria; the moving up ceremony is Wednesday, June 24 @ 9am, with light refreshments, celebrating, and photos afterwards. Thank you to the Brewster PTO for their financial support of the yearbook, social, and other end-of-year celebrations!

Don't forget that if you would like to order school supplies and have them sent directly to school for your student to receive them in the fall, please order by July 1. This is not a fundraiser, and the company, 1st Day School Supplies, has high-quality supplies they use, usually at or below retail cost because they buy in bulk (and shipping is free to school). You can order here:

https://1stdayschoolsupplies.com/gs/48735

The Brewster PTO met last week, and held e-board elections at the meeting. Christie Peterson will be the PTO President; Sarah Marini Lessin will be the PTO Vice-President; Kristen O'Neal will be the PTO Treasurer. No one was nominated for Secretary, and this is an open position. We are looking for someone to be the next PTO Secretary! Any Brewster elementary parent/caregiver or Brewster elementary staff member may become the PTO Secretary. The commitment is to attend the monthly PTO meetings at 7pm; a second monthly meeting which is the e-board meeting, only if needed to approve funding requests; take minutes at PTO meetings; create the monthly meeting agenda; post minutes to the PTO website. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact the Brewster PTO at brewsterpto@gmail.com.

Finally, we are in the planning process of developing some math and reading summer work for incoming Eddy students to keep them engaged in some practice to prevent any summer regression. More information to come, but know that we are working on something to share. This is optional, but encouraged.

Here's to a great week of learning at Eddy!

Best,

Steve Guditus

Student Supply Ordering For Next School Year 26-27

We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies to provide convenience for families for supply lists. This is entirely optional, and is offered solely as a convenience for families. If you would like to purchase items on the supply lists for next year, the deadline is July 1. All items are high quality (think: Crayola crayons, Ticonderoga pencils), and because the company buys in bulk, the cost is typically comparable or cheaper than going to Staples or Target or Amazon. Items ship directly to Eddy at no cost, and we will provide the supplies to students directly the first week of school. This is not a fundraiser, so all prices come directly from the company. If you prefer to purchase items on the supply list yourselves, that is not a problem at all.

A reminder that the deadline to order a supply box is July 1.

Toys and fidgets at school

We have been having a lot of student conflict about fidgets and stuffed animals here at school this week. The number of fidgets and stuffed animals has grown in recent weeks and is becoming a distraction to learning. I am kindly requesting that you help with this by ensuring that students keep fidgets and stuffed animals at home. If your student needs to use a fidget at school, we have some here at school and your student can borrow one from their teacher.

Thank you for your help with this!
