Rocky Point Weekly Update
March 16th-20th
Hello Rocky Point Families
Good evening Rocky Point Ram Families,
Quarter 4 is off to a great start. I would like to celebrate our students and families for meeting our goal of 95% attendance for the month of February. This accomplishment is an exceptional one given the uptick in illnesses again during the month of February. Additionally, I would like to recognize our Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade students for their excellent behavior on their field trips this past week as they took their learning experiences on the road.
We are looking forward to another great week of learning on and off campus with our final field trips of the year!
Remote Learning Tomorrow, Monday, March 16
Due to the anticipated inclement weather, we will have a remote learning day, tomorrow, Monday, March 16. Your child's teacher will be reaching out to you through Rooms in regard to their assignments to complete to account for their attendance tomorrow. Additionally, an email will be sent to families tomorrow morning between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. with this same information. If a device is needed to complete an assignment and you do not have a device at home, we will work with families to allow students to make up these particular assignments through Friday, March 20. We will operate on a normal schedule on Tuesday, March 17.
Gentle Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
As time changed last weekend, we had a large increase of students getting dropped off after our tardy bell, which rings at 7:20 a.m. Please note that if you do not see our staff outside in the car line, then you need to park your vehicle, walk your child inside and sign them in the office. This procedure is for the safety of all children. Additionally, please know that we will not be releasing any students for early check-outs after 2:10 p.m. Please help us finish strong by having students at school, on time and staying through the entire instructional day!
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Enrollment applications are continuing to be accepted for the 2026–2027 school year for children that will be turning 5 prior to August 31, 2026. Thank you to all rising families that joined us at our Kindergarten registration event this past Wednesday evening at Heide Trask High School!

Bus Ridership for the 2026-2027 School Year - Due April 17
Please help us as we prepare our routing for the 2026-27 school year. On Thursday, February 26, students came home with a parent letter from our PCS Transportation Department. Each letter contains the student’s current bus stop information. If the stop location fields are blank, it means the student is not currently assigned to a bus. If there are no changes to be made, we are requesting for each parent/guardian to circle all “YES”s on the letter. All “YES” forms must be turned in to the administrative office of the school no later than April 17th, 2026. If changes do need to be made, please circle “NO”s (as directed and written in the letter) and proceed to completing the Google form and update your transportation needs for the upcoming school year. The Google form is now accepting responses! Link: 2026-27 School Bus Ridership Form
Choose Love Presentation - April 20
Join us at Topsail High School for an inspiring presentation from Scarlett Lewis from the Choose Love Movement and discover how courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion can empower students to navigate challenges, strengthen resilience, and build a safer, more supportive and healthier school community. This framework was
created in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
Sensory Sensation
Join us for a free multi-sensory event and resource fair for our Pender County exceptional students and families at Topsail High School Stadium on Saturday, May 2 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Million Minute Reading Challenge, Read Around the Bases & Homework Expectations
Our reading challenge at RPE in conjunction with the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge is ongoing. Additionally, during our final nine weeks, if students read for a minimum of 45 minutes a week and complete their reading log, they will receive 2 tickets to go watch a Wilmington Sharks baseball game on June 1. They will also get an opportunity to run around the bases at the game. Please help your child meet this goal and by signing your child’s paper reading log each night. We will continue to assist them in filling out the Google Form when they go to media for specials each week. You may also do so by filling out the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge Google Form found here, RPE Million Minute Reading Challenge, and in Classlink of your child’s computer. Let’s keep reading!
Please also continue to support students in completing their adaptive practice in their online Freckle program on their chromebooks throughout the week. Please support your child in completing a total of 45 minutes at home each week in math for grades 2-5 and in reading for grades 3-5. Help guides are linked below:
Preschool Application 2026-2027
The preschool application for 2026-2027 school year is now LIVE on the PCS website, on the preschool page. Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues
A surgery date has been set for one of our very own Rocky Point Elementary family members! Please consider saving and sending in all of your tabs from soda, food and pet food cans before April 2nd in order for us to send them all with the family to the Ronald McDonald House as they head there during spring break. Again, collecting can pop tabs supports the operating costs of providing a home away from home for families with sick children. Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!
