From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
I want to start off by saying thank you to all of our families who joined us for curriculum night this week. If you were unable to attend please see my linked slide presentation HERE that outlines some important school curriculum, safety and health information. It was so great to finally showcase our new classrooms to the parents and community.
We have had two weeks of P2 character trait winners so look below for our Curiosity and Teamwork Vikings of the week!
Below this message you will also see the link for our lunch menus. Organic life lists all the dietary information for each meal through this calendar as well. You will always be able to find this link in future newsletters, under "Standing Items" towards the bottom that will always remain listed.
And finally, 1st and 2nd grade benchmark assessment reports were sent home in student's backpacks today. This is our initial iready assessment to determine current levels and if any additional supports are needed in reading or math for any students. I am excited to see these scores continue to rise throughout the year for ALL students! The Kindergarteners will take their initial benchmark assessment the week of September 29th. (We always give them a little more time to adjust to school and routines before their benchmark assessment). Their results will be sent home when all students have completed testing, most likely the second week of October.
Have a great weekend,
-Mrs. Scanlan

October 1, 2025 - FTC Believe Kids Fundraiser Starts
Snack Time Reminder!
All of our SC students enjoy a daily snack time. Please help your child be ready by packing a snack that is separate from their lunch each day.
Thanks to a generous donation from FTC, we’ve had a small supply of extra snacks on hand for students who occasionally forget. However, these are going quickly, and we won’t be able to keep extras in the office much longer. We’d love your help in making sure each child has their own snack every day so no one has to miss out.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.

***STANDING ITEMS***
These are items that will always be listed at the bottom of the newsletter for parent reference. This includes: Lunch menus, fee information, school/bus/OBT Park District contact information, and emergency procedures.
All new or updated information is listed above.
School Hours
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
