KindergartenWeekly UpdateWeek of Monday, October 2nd - Thursday, October 5th

NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6th NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6th

Dear Parents,

Happy October! How quickly this season flies by as we jump into all things Kindergarten.

Field trip permission slips came home this past week - if you need another copy please let your child's teacher know. We have also attached a digital copy in the Newsletter below.

If you need a scholarship to cover the cost of the trip, please let us know. We want everyone to attend if possible, and do not want the cost to be a deterrent.

Parents that wish to chaperone will need to plan to provide their own transportation - we will not transport parents to or from the Pumpkin Patch. Please ensure you have your background check turned in through the office if you are planning to chaperone! If you would like to attend with only your child, but not have a group, let your child's teacher know as well so they can plan accordingly. We do not have a limit on the number of chaperones! Some classes only have 1-2 chaperones currently, so if you are able PLEASE join us!

For attendance questions and concerns, please contact:
PEIMS Clerk: Shea Harrison sharrison@aubreyisd.net

Attendance Administrator: Anverly Laster alaster@aubreyisd.net

Reminder to ensure your kiddos are wearing dress code appropriate clothing each day for school!

Let us know if you have any questions!

With love,

Mrs. Beck, Ms. Ceaser, Ms. Hardin, Mrs. Stuart, Mrs. Summerville, and Mrs. Yusaf

Eating lunch with your child

You are more than welcome to come and eat lunch with your child any day (with exceptions for closed campus testing days) of your choice. If you are eating lunch at school remember:

- check in AND out with the front office

  • no background check required, but the school does need to keep track of who is and is not in the building

- you may only sit with your child, their friends may not eat with you at the visitors tables

- you cannot supply food to other children that are not your own

- please encourage your children to continue to follow school rules while you are visiting

These are rules across campus to keep all children safe, and must be followed by all visitors.

TEKS we will focus on this week:

K2: Blending and segmenting multi-syllabic words

K2biv Identifying sight words

K2E Handwriting

We are continuing to work in our handwriting books, moving into different writing strokes this week.

We will begin to explore word problems administered orally, practicing writing number sentences and drawing pictures/using objects to help solve addition problems within 10.

In addition, we are working on the skill of rote counting forwards and backwards to 30, with and without objects for representation, and beginning to introduce and practice skip counting by 10.

K.4 Collecting information.

K.2A-E Ability to ask questions and seek answers.

K6A Explore different forms of energy

We will practice using our senses to gather information, observe objects, and take notes on what we find utilizing writing skills like labeling. We will focus our exploration on sources of energy like: heat, light, and sound.

TEKS we will focus on this week:

K.3A Location - describing location and finding locations on campus

We will emphasize positional words and vocabulary this week as we continue to explore location and all that goes along with that concept - with a focus on our campus and identifying key areas of the building.

Dress Code

Aubrey ISD does enforce a strict dress code. Please review the following links to familiarize yourself with the dos and don'ts!

Dress Code

Dress Code Dos and Don'ts

Weekly Reminders :)

  • Send your kiddo to school with a LABELED, reusable water bottle daily.

  • Don't forget a snack, packed SEPARATE from their lunch so they don't eat it at lunch accidentally.

  • Pack an extra set of dress code approved clothes in a gallon sized bag, or other container, in case of accidents or clothing emergencies.

  • Check green folders nightly, empty and return each day. Any paperwork that needs to come back to school will on the RIGHT side, and teachers will check for returned forms daily.

  • Car tags are REQUIRED at dismissal in the car line, as well as Walker Pick up locations

  • Email ALL transportation changes to FESTransportation@aubreyisd.net by 2pm.

  • We will not go outside for recess if the temperature exceeds 100*F or is below 40*.

  • Parents need to drop their kiddos off at the door - fostering independence is essential in Kindergarten! There will be teachers around to help kiddos find their way to our classrooms.
